Dixie Landin’ in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Take the family out for a day of adventure at Dixie Landin’ in Baton Rouge. With 26 wild rides, this amusement park promises thrills for everyone.

Dixie Landin’

Dixie Landin’ Amusement Park was designed for families with kids of all ages. This action-packed park has an entire kiddie section with rides for kids under 36 inches tall. The little kids will have a blast riding on the Delta Crop Dusters, going for a spin on the Grand Carousel and enjoying games and rides in the Fun Fair area. If little legs get tired, you can either bring your stroller into the park or rent a wagon to carry your kids and bags.

Older kids and adults are in for some real thrills with rides like the Rajin Cajun, a 14-story giant steel loop roller coaster that holds the distinction of being the most popular roller coaster ever built. If you don’t mind a sheer drop from extreme heights, head over to the Hot Shot 200-foot drop tower. The newest coaster at Dixie Landin’ is the Extrem spinning coaster that will take you on a high-speed twisting ride.

When you get hungry, grab a hamburger, hot dog or pizza at Dixiedilly. Sweet treats and snacks like cotton candy and ice cream are available at Sweet Magnolia. Or if you need to cool off in between rides, cold drinks and treats are available throughout the park — because really, what’s a trip to the amusement park without overdosing on sugar and carbs?

Dixie Landin’ is located adjacent to Blue Bayou Water Park, which will be featured this summer on the Travel Channel’s Extreme Water Parks. One ticket covers entry to both Dixie Landin’ and Blue Bayou, so make sure you pack your swimsuits, towels and sunscreen.

Bring along an empty Coke can for each member of the family, too, and you’ll save $5 on the price of daily admission.

If you want to avoid the crowds, try planning your visit for a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

It’s a good idea to measure your kids before heading to the park to plan out who will go on which rides and where adults need to accompany the little ones. Each roller coaster has its own height requirement, and they’re all listed on the FAQ page of the Dixie Landin’ website.
