April to July: Lawrence County Saddle Club Horse Show
Everyone should have the opportunity to ride a horse! The Lawrence County Saddle Club Horse Show hosts western pleasure classes, barrel racing, gaited classes and more at the Iron Rail Arena on the first Saturday of each month.

May to June: Muleday/Chickenfest, 25th Annual
The 25th Annual Muleday/Chickenfest is a celebration of Alabama’s agricultural heritage. There’s so much to do and see: a carnival for the kids, live entertainment, arts and crafts, food vendors, a 5K race and a parade featuring — who else? — the mule!

June to September: Blackberry and Blueberry Picking
Your family won’t want to leave Barber Berry Farm with its acres of berry bushes, fruit trees and a hydroponic vegetable garden. Pick your own pesticide-free blackberries and blueberries from May through July and muscadine and scuppernongs from mid-August through September.

June: Hot Air Balloon Festival
The City of Valley and the Valley Historic Preservation Council will host the first ever Hot Air Balloon Festival on June 1 and 2. The event kicks off with a balloon glow on Friday, followed by the launch on Saturday.

June to July: Alabama in the Making: Traditional Arts of People and Places
The Alabama Folklife Association organized this exhibit. Folk art and traditional art that is unique to Alabama helped to define the state’s five culturally defined regions. The arts of these regions provided a sense of place and identity to their peoples. The exhibit’s first stop is the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, followed by visits to other state museums.

June to July: Animal Adventures
What a great opportunity to learn about Alabama’s native animals along with some exotic animals too. Located just on the outskirts of Dothan, Landmark Park offers special one-hour educational programs suitable for everyone ages 5 and up. Reservations are required.

July: 38th Annual World Championship Domino Tournament
More than 300 participants will compete for over $20,000 in cash and trophies. There is “fun, fellowship and competition” for all ages. Take in the singles and doubles competitions, meet Miss World Domino and stick around for cash drawings.
