If you’re a family that plays together, you’ll have a blast at Adventureland Park! Ride the rides, and then catch a wave to cool off — they’ve got it all here!
Adventureland Park, Altoona
You’ll always find an adventure at Adventureland Park! This place is bigger than a small-scale amusement park, but not as big as some of the monster parks out there.
It’s the perfect park for a family day, because there is something here for everyone. Your family will enjoy kiddie rides, thrill rides and games if rides aren’t your thing. The thrill rides aren’t crazy — you won’t be dropping 30 stories or anything like that — but they will twist you around and turn you upside down.
The newest addition to the park is Advetureland Bay, a full-scale water park that’s attached to the amusement park. You can go back and forth between the two, or just stick to the one you like the best.
The water park does tend to get busier as the day goes on (and as the temps climb), and they limit the number of people allowed in for safety reasons. If you want a guaranteed spot, go there first. The water is colder in the morning, but you’ll have more fun without a million elbows in your back. You can rent a cabana if you’d like a place for your family to congregate (and a place to dump your stuff), but they go fast and should be reserved at least a few weeks in advance if you really want one.
The food at the park is pricey, but there are some reasonable items. A hotdog is less than $2, and a personal pizza will run about $5, but can easily be split between two or three young kids. If you’d rather bring your own food, they won’t allow it in the park but do have a picnic area with tables just outside of the gates.
