Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park — Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin

As the Water Park Capital of the World and the home of over a half-dozen amusement parks — not to mention the scenic tours, the live entertainment, the animal attractions… — planning a family trip to Wisconsin Dells can get pretty overwhelming. If you want a one-stop shop filled with family entertainment, then Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park may just be for you.

Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park, Wisconsin Dells

You can make Mt. Olympus your only Wisconsin Dells destination by booking a room at the park’s attached hotel or campground, which gains you free access to all the park’s attractions for the duration of your stay. But there’s no need to book a room to pay a visit — this Greek-themed water and theme park is open to all. However, if you’re not visiting as a hotel guest, come prepared with strollers and water bottles as you’ll have a long walk from the guest lot to the park’s entrance.

Once inside Mt. Olympus it’s time to choose which part of the park you want to spend your time in. You might want to dedicate one full day to the theme park and another at the water park, but if you’re hitting both in one day, you might want to avoid the larger crowds by hitting the water park in the morning and braving the theme park in the afternoon heat.

During winter visits you’ll be limited to visiting the park’s indoor areas, which won’t be much of a disappointment for the kids given that Mt. Olympus is the home of The Parthenon — The Dells’ first indoor theme park that has tea cups, bumper cars and even a few indoor coasters. Winter water fun can also be had at Medusa’s — Mt. Olympus’ indoor water park with its 10-story water slide and the world’s fastest lazy river.

Come during summer and you’ll have free reign to visit Mt. Olympus’ outdoor areas which feature some of the park’s most impressive rides. Zeus’ Playground — the outdoor theme park area — has an impressive collection of roller coasters, including the Hades, which has the world’s longest underground coaster tunnel. There’s even a go-kart track that lets you race through underwater tunnels and into the belly of the Trojan horse.

But the park’s crowning glory also lives outside in Neptune’s Water Kingdom. Kids will thrill with the water rides and slides of all shapes and sizes, but they’ll be absolutely breathless after braving Poseidon’s Rage — a wave pool with the world’s tallest waves, measuring in at over nine feet!
