Lewis and Clark Landing

The historic adventures of Lewis and Clark are remembered in Omaha on the 23-acre landing alongside the Missouri River. Best enjoyed on a nice day, many outdoor concerts and festivals are held here as well as Lewis and Clark interpretive exhibits. You will also find the Omaha Firefighter’s Memorial Monument here.

Old Market

Old Market’s quaint ambiance — think horses and carriages clinking down the streets — is a favorite destination for shopping, grabbing a bite to eat or simply people watching as there are over 80 shops and 30 pubs and restaurants. Opt to take the Gallery Walk and browse the 20 galleries, take a historical tour or stop in for an IMAX movie.

Zorinsky Lake

Zorinsky Lake is an outdoorsman’s dream with the endless recreational activities on 225 acres. Ideal for families, there are two modern playgrounds — including one for the toddlers, a football field, baseball diamonds, soccer fields and bicycling trails. Be sure to pack your hiking shoes for exploring or fishing poles since there is a fishing dock. You’ll also find boating, horseback riding and fantastic wildlife viewing.

Bemis Center

As base to an international artist-in-residence program, this center is home to artists from around the world. The Bemis Center galleries, free to see, feature contemporary visual art exhibitions.

Lauritzen Gardens

Lauritzen Gardens is one of Omaha’s most scenic areas. Resting on 100 acres are rose gardens, a Victorian garden, a children’s garden and an arboretum. Bring a book, the family or your sweetheart to experience this lovely botanical garden free of charge on particular days. Check out the gardens for free on National Public Gardens Day or during the Arbor Day weekend.
