The Greenville Zoo is over 14 acres in size, so wear your walking shoes! They do allow food and drinks, so pack a picnic lunch to avoid the high costs at the concession stand. If you plan on spending money, hit up the ATM before you get here, because they don’t have one on site.

Website: http://www.chimneyrockpark.com

Chimney Rock State Park is named for the giant rock that sticks up out of the treetops in the middle of the park (kind of like a chimney!). The hike to the top gives you unforgettable views, but you don’t really have to be that adventurous to get to the top. They have a 26-story elevator that takes you to the top in just 30 seconds. They also have tons of kids’ activities and walking trails.

Happy Cow Creamery

Phone: 843-361-0789
Rates: $11-$17
Website: http://www.alligatoradventure.com

Can you imagine coming face to face with a huge alligator? It can happen if you bring the family to Alligator Adventure. A tour guide will lead you through swamps where you’ll not only see alligators, but also lizards, giant frogs, turtles and exotic birds. If you go at the right time, you can also catch an alligator or snake-handling show.

Medieval Times Myrtle Beach

Phone: 866-543-9637
Rates: $31-$51, special packages available
Website: http://www.medievaltimes.com/myrtlebeach

Travel with your family back to the 11th century and become guests in the king’s court. Watch horsemen perform and see jousting competitions. The whole show is about two hours long, and you’ll be served quite a feast while you watch (dinner is included in admission). They don’t give you silverware since they didn’t have that in the 11th century, so keep some in your purse if you don’t want to eat with your fingers. Seating is first come, first serve, so get here early!

South Carolina Aquarium

There are a lot of interesting creatures found in and around the beaches of South Carolina, but you’re not likely to run across most of them while you’re out for a stroll. If you want to see them up close and personal, visit the South Carolina Aquarium. Their interactive exhibits give you a chance to learn all about these magnificent creatures. They have over 60 exhibits and over 6,000 plants and animals, so plan on staying for a while.
