From bikes to skates: Family fun on wheels

Get your family together for some fun on wheels this summer!

Biking

Whether you and your kids are simply heading out for a roll around the neighborhood, are venturing uphill for a mountain biking adventure, or taking a bike taxi to a local baseball game, there is plenty of fun to be had biking. If you’re visiting a new city, consider renting bikes as a way to tour the area.

Roller skating/blading

Ready for a retro good time? Tie up some roller blades at a local skating rink and groove to some ’70s- and ’80s-style music, while the lights flicker and the disco ball spins.

Roller blading was super big in the ’90s, but that kind of fun never goes out of style. Get your family into a set of roller blades and go in-line skating down the boardwalk or around a local park. Personal travel

A Segway or a Vespa can also be a really cool way to have fun on wheels… but they are practical, too! If you are considering cutting back the family vehicle to just one car, adding a Segway or a Vespa can be the perfect eco-friendly (and fun!) substitution to a gas-guzzling SUV.

Go-karts

Go-karting is some wholesome fun that the whole family will love. Research go-kart racing facilities in your town or a city you’re planning to visit and spend the day zipping around high-speed tracks with the speed-demons in your family.
