White River State Park in Indianapolis

You’ll always find something to do or see at White River Park. Take turns letting each family member pick an activity, and you’ll never run out of ways to spend a fun-filled day.

White River State Park, Indianapolis

Nestled in the heart of downtown Indianapolis is 250 acres of mixed-use space. Here, you’ll find everything you need for a fun family day out for even the pickiest family members. The park has numerous museums and other activities for the entire family to enjoy. Spend a day simply enjoying nature by taking to the trails or pack a picnic to share underneath the shade of indigenous Indiana trees. Visit the Indianapolis Zoo and see exotic animals, or stroll through the immaculate gardens.

The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art is home to an extensive collection of Native American and Western art. Spend a day at a ball game at an Indianapolis Indians Baseball game, the city’s own minor league baseball team. Or catch a special feature at the massive IMAX theatre. White River Park also hosts the Indiana State Museum where you’ll learn about the science, art and culture of Indiana and its contributions to the nation. Ever wonder what it’s like to be a student-athlete? At the NCAA Hall of Champions Museum, see if you have what it takes. Hands-on displays and sports simulators give you a taste of a day in the life of a student-athlete.

Throughout the year, you won’t want to miss the special events that take place in the park — like the annual concert series featuring nationally and internationally known performers, the Indian Market with traditional handicrafts and artisan vendors, cultural- and holiday-themed festivals, the Family Art Series featuring visual and performing arts or various road races.
