The great thing about gothic fashion is that there are so many subcultures within it, so many cool ways to rock it. Along with the traditional gothic looks we fawn over on Pinterest (yes, black lipstick, big hair, and all), there’s also romantic goth, vampire goth, punk goth, and more. And quite a few celebrities rocked a gothic look, while pregnant.
That’s right, you may have missed it, but quite a few celebrities over the years have rocked gorgeously gothic maternity looks on the red carpet.
No, we’re not just talking about plain, basic black dresses. We’re talking about looks that incorporate gothic elements like lace, leather, velvet, religious motifs, studs, and corsets. We’re talking about gowns that when you see it, you know gothic elements were intertwined in it.
From more romantic goth looks from stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Alba to bold goth looks from stars like Heidi Klum and Ayesha Curry, we got it all.

She shared the video to her Instagram, saying, “Megan Fox ❤️🔥❤️🔥 Last night for GQ x Men of The Year.” In the video, we see Fox looking oh-so incredible in a sheer black lace bridal-like dress. The look that featured cutouts showed off her glowing skin and growing baby bump. Styled by Tatiana Waterford, Fox’s look also featured a matching long black veil, further showing the goddess vibes.
Jennifer Lawrence
At the Bread & Roses Los Angeles Premiere in Nov 2024, Jennifer Lawrence showed off her growing baby bump in this draped, tulle and satin Christian Lacroix from 2006. With the gothic elements such as the dark color and tulle detailing, this look truly embodies the maternity style.
Vanessa Hudgens
For the 2024 Oscars, Vanessa Hudgens channeled Morticia Addams in this form-fitting black Celine gown. While this may seem like a normal black gown, it has gothic elements such as the high neckline, dark color palette, and that it’s a floor length gown.
Shanina Shaik
Shanina Shaik combined leather and lace to rock this edgy, gothic look at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. This, coupled with the choker makes it a rather edgy take on the romantic goth aesthetic!
Sophie Turner
At the 2022 Met Gala celebrating In America: An Anthology of Fashion, Sophie Turner combined punk goth and romantic goth for this vampiric look. For the event, she donned a studded Louis Vuitton Resort 2016 Dress that perfectly cradled her baby bump.
What makes it gothic? The ruffled collar, vampy makeup, and the studs throughout.
Olivia Wilde
Olivia Wilde’s Michael Kors gown at the Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology Met Gala is the perfect blend of subtle cyber goth and punk goth. It has the collar and studs throughout, giving it almost a cyberpunk vibe for the tech-based fashion night. And yes, she was pregnant here with her daughter Daisy.
Jessica Alba
At the 2017 Baby2Baby Gala, Jessica Alba nailed the gothic maternity trend with this dramatic black lace gown from Brock Collection. It truly became a gothic look when she paired it with a vampy red lip and a matching velvet red Hunting Season purse.
Rihanna
Rihanna not only rocked one of the most daring maternity looks we’ve ever seen at the 2022 Paris Fashion Week show for Dior, but it’s deliciously gothic as well. She’s got lace, leather, and a daring black look. it’s such a bold gothic maternity look!
Ciara
Okay we know it’s not predominantly black, but this red velvet Jovani Signature gown at the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar Party is romantic gothic. Not only is the silhouette perfect, and the velvet adds that romantic aspect, but the matching red collar makes this a vampire goth gown.
Kerry Washington
Another gothic Met Gala look was from back in 2016 when Kerry Washington wowed in this black lace Marc Jacobs Fall 2016 Gown, which she paired with black gloves. This, couples with her boild purple hair screams subtle goth vibes!
Felicity Jones
For the Aeronauts premiere, Felicity Jones rocked this velvet gown from The Vampire’s Wife, which she paired with Jessica McCormack Diamond & Blackened Gold Crescent Moon Gypset Hoop Earrings. So not only does she have the imagery of the moon with the earrings, but the velvet and romantic details throughout make it the perfect romantic goth gown. She was around four to five months pregnant here!
Heidi Klum
This may be the ultimate gothic maternity look a celeb has worn on the red carpet. Back in 2009, Heidi Klum wowed in this black and blue lace ballgown from J. Mendel. It was for “The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” Met Gala theme, and it’s giving maternal Corpse Bride vibes.
Heidi Klum (Again!)
Heidi Klum rocked this black maternity dress back during the Olympus Fashion Week Spring 2007. What makes this a gothic dress is the religious motifs, such as the studded crosses on the bottom.
Ayesha Curry
Ayesha Curry really took the punk-rock elements of gothic fashion for this maternity Dolce & Gabbana gown. The black color plus the lace up and studs make it classic punk goth!
Katherine Parkinson
The royal blue tone in the gown Katherine Parkinson wore back in 2014, which she paired with the black lace front makes this such a unique gothic look.
Demi Moore
Demi Moore attended the Hudson Hawk Westwood Premiere on May 20, 1991 in a scoop-necked velvet gown. Velvet is a great fabric often used in gothic fashion, so that, coupled with the edginess of the maternity dress makes it goth-adjacent enough for us to count it.
