It’s been over 22 years since the iconic show Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended after seven seasons. We’ve been obsessed with the show, and the comics that came after it, for years; and now, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is getting a reboot! In light of this, we wanna see which actors from the show that we’ve loved for years are parents now, and there’s a lot more than you think.
In case you missed it, according to Deadline, there is a reboot in the works with Hulu. The star herself, Sarah Michele Gellar, is expected to star in it as Buffy Summers. Along with that, Oscar winner Chloé Zhao is set to direct the pilot, and it’s set to be written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. Not much else is known about the series, but we do know this: the internet is freaking out, and full of questions.
While we impatiently await any and all details we can get about the reboot, we’re going to take a look back at those actors we love; and how they’ve transformed into beloved parents.
Below, see which Buffy the Vampire Slayer alums are parents now!
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Sarah Michelle Gellar may be coming back as the ever-so-iconic slayer that ruled the 1990s: Buffy Summers. Since then, she’s acted in numerous projects, and has become a proud mom of two. For those who don’t know, Gellar and her husband Freddie Prinze Jr met back in 1997 on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer, but didn’t start dating until 2000.
They got engaged in early 2001 and married nearly 18 months later, in Sept 2002. The lovebirds have two children together named Charlotte, born in 2009, and Rocky, born in 2012.
In a previous interview with SheKnows, Gellar talked about how everything changed when she became a mom, saying, “But all of a sudden, in your mind, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you’re worried about these little beings in an incredibly all-consuming, beautiful but stressful way.”
Alyson Hannigan
Alyson Hannigan played our favorite bisexual witch, Willow Rosenberg in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, who became an instant fan-favorite for her awkward beginnings and powerful witchy love story. Hannigan hasn’t stopped acting after Buffy, and she even married another Buffy co-star, Alexis Denisof, who played Wesley!
The two have welcomed two daughters named Satyana Marie, born in 2009, and Keeva Jane, born in 2012.
In a previous interview with SheKnows, Hannigan talked about how much she loves being a mom to her two daughters, and how she takes them into account with every part she takes. “My kids are very proud of me,” she said. “I feel like, definitely, everything changed when I became a mother… I absolutely think of my kids when I read something. And also, I just love being a mom and I love being with my family, so to get me to leave them to do something, I’ve gotta want to enjoy it and it’s gotta be something I want to do.”
Charisma Carpenter
In both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff series Angel, we’ve loved the plucky fighter that is Cordelia Chase, played by Charisma Carpenter. Carpenter has also not stopped acting since the 90s, and has since welcomed a son! BAck in 2003, she and her husband at the time Damian Hardy welcomed a son named Donovan Charles Hardy.
In a previous interview with SheKnows, she talked about balancing motherhood and work. “It’s sort of synchro swim, you know? You make it work, you pull from your resources. I rely on family and friends a lot. My ex-husband and I co-parent very well together, without him, it wouldn’t be possible,” she said.
Anthony Stewart Head
Ah, our favorite watcher: Giles, also known as Ripper. (Can we get a Ripper prequel already?!) Actor Anthony Stewart Head is another TV star we’ll never get tired of seeing on our screens. Along with being a performer, Head and his wife of over 40 years, Sarah Fisher, have two daughters together: Emmerdale star Emily Head, born in Dec 1988, and Hulu TV star Daisy Head, born in March 1991.
He’s kept his personal life on the private side, but did preciously talk with The Morning about working alongside both of his daughters at one point.
David Boreanaz
David Boreanaz will forever be our Angel, the moody, gloomy vampire who not only loves Buffy but fights crime. While his character is all doom and gloom, Boreanaz is quite happy as a dad of two with his wife Jaime Bergman. They have a son named Jaden Rayne, born May 2002 and a daughter named Bella Vita Bardot Boreanaz (born Bardot Vita Boreanaz), born Aug 2009.
“I just helped my son [Jaden, 22] move out of his apartment in New York. It was a test of patience,” he said to People in 2024. “Parenting is such a journey. It never ends, and it never gets easier!”
James Marsters
Along with Angel, Spike is a dad too! That’s right, the beloved counterpart to the Spuffy ship Spike, played by James Marsters, is a papa in real life. He and his ex-wife Liane Davidson welcomed a son named Sullivan Marsters, born in 1996, and started raising his niece when she was five, and he considers her his own daughter!
Marc Blucas
Another one of Buffy’s love interests from Season 4, soldier Riley Finn, is a dad! Actor Marc Blucas and his wife Ryan Haddon welcomed two daughters, whose names they haven’t revealed. He’s also the stepfather to Haddon’s two children with Christian Slater: Jaden Christopher, born in 1999, and Eliana Sophia, born in 2001.
Emma Caulfield
Emma Caulfield, also known as Emma Caulfield Ford, played the loveable demon-turned-human-fighter Anya. While Anya wasn’t a mom in the show, Caulfield is a proud mom of one in real life. She and her husband Mark Leslie Ford welcomed a daughter Knightley Lake, born in July 2016.
Eliza Dushku
Eliza Dushku may not be acting anymore, but she’ll always be the iconic slayer, Faith, in our hearts. In real life, she’s quit the world of acting, and has become a certified therapist, primarily focusing on psychedelic therapy for trauma patients; and oh yeah, a proud boy mom of two! She and her husband businessman Peter Palandjian welcomed two sons named Bourne, born in Aug 2019, and Bodie, born in Aug 2021.
Kristine Sutherland
Kristine Sutherland is an amazing mom both on and off screen. She played Buffy Summers’ mother Joyce Summers in the show, and in real life, she and her husband John Pankow share a daughter named Eleanore Pankow!
