And yes, we know some of you are already freaking out. Because an adult drinking breast milk? An adult drinking someone else’s breast milk? We know the thought makes a lot of people squeamish (if not downright judgemental), but it’s a lot more common than you probably think. A lot of celebrities and their partners and/or friends have tried their breast milk. And no, it hasn’t been accidental like this father-in-law on Reddit who mistakenly poured his daughter-in-law’s breast milk into his cereal.
And it hasn’t been something they’ve been ashamed of or secretive about. Many A-listers have opened up about drinking the so-called “liquid gold.” Breast milk is known to be rich in a whole host of nutrients. It contains multiple proteins such as whey and casein, essential vitamins (hey, A, B, C, and more!) and minerals (looking at you, iron and zinc!). Plus there are digestive enzymes, important fats and hormones, and other components that help develop a healthy gut.
Thus … “liquid gold.”
We suppose some celebrities are wondering what all the fuss is about and why only their little ones should benefit from all those nutritional goodies. And so they’ve been known to take a sip. … Or a gulp. Or pour it in their morning coffee. … Or spit it out.
From Paige DeSorbo taking shots of friend Lindsay Hubbard’s breast milk to Brody Jenner and Tia Blanco cheers-ing with their breast milk lattes, here are the people in the spotlight who have tried breast milk as an adult. Plus their unfiltered thoughts on the experience.
Paige DeSorbo
Paige DeSorbo was not mincing words when she talked about trying her Summer House costar Lindsay Hubbard’s breast milk. The two friends were hanging out while Hubbard was pumping, and DeSorbo said, “‘Put a little in a shot glass for your girl! I wanna try it,’” she explained on an Amazon Livestream, per Us Weekly.
Hubbard had yet to try her own breast milk, and after some prompting from DeSorbo, they both tried it and “loved it.”
“I was obsessed,” DeSorbo said of the “sweet” drink. “ … I’m not gonna lie, I’d throw that in my coffee before I’d throw oat milk in my coffee.”
Brody Jenner & Tia Blanco
Brody Jenner and fiancé Tia Blanco found themselves in a pickle one morning after welcoming their daughter Honey. When Jenner went to make coffee, he realized they were out of their beloved almond milk.
“But I did find one thing,” he said in a vlog, holding up a bag of breast milk before listing all the good things he’s heard about breast milk. “ … I think it will do.”
After conferring with Blanco, Jenner made two “breast milk lattes” for them to enjoy in bed.
“It’s freaking delicious,” Jenner said. Blanco said, “It just tastes like coffee,” laughing at her unfazed assessment.
Shawn Johnson & Andrew East
Shawn Johnson and Andrew East have also had their morning caffeine topped off with some breast milk. But Johnson seems to be in the minority about how it tastes.
“Nasty,” the retired Olympian and mom of three said of the breast milk cappuccinos.
Tamera Mowry
Tia and Tamera Mowry’s twin bond is so strong that Tamera enthusiastically drank her sister’s breastmilk.
“Oh, my gosh, Tia, this is amazing,” the Sister, Sister alum said while holding a cup in a selfie video. “Your breast milk is the best milk I’ve ever tried in my life!”
Kourtney Kardashian
A few months after welcoming baby Rocky Thirteen with husband Travis Barker, Kourtney Kardashian revealed that she partakes in the trend when she isn’t feeling well.
“I just pounded a glass of breast milk because I feel sick 🤧goodnight!” the mom of four wrote in an Instagram Story.
Lala Kent
Vanderpump Rules star Lala Kent won’t let any of that liquid gold go to waste. During an episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, she spoke about breastfeeding her second daughter and how she used “10 ounces” of breast milk in her coffee that morning since she didn’t have a place to “save it.”
“[I was] not dumping it down the sink,” she said, per People.
KJ Apa
Riverdale alum KJ Apa has also had breast milk in his morning joe. In an Instagram video, he unscrewed his son’s baby bottle and poured some of the goods into his coffee. “My wife is a milk machine and I love it,” he joked of his girlfriend Clara Berry, per Business Insider. Based on the smile on his face, we’d say he was satisfied with the substitution.
Jennifer Aniston
Much like Paige DeSorbo, Jennifer Aniston drank the breast milk of a celebrity friend. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actress admitted to drinking Kimmel’s wife’s breast milk and called it “the one milk you don’t have to feel guilty about drinking.” “It’s like, ‘No, that dairy is OK,'” she said per Glamour.
“It’s sweet,” she continued “It’s almost coconut-milky.”
Andy Cohen
On a 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen spoke to Amber Tamblyn about breastfeeding her daughter and how her husband tried (and enjoyed!) her breast milk. The actress instantly suggested Cohen try some of the milk that she had pumped earlier.
“It’s very sweet,” he said, per Self. “ … And it’s good with a tequila chaser! Wow. Can I have more?”
“That’s the closest to a breast I’ve ever been,” he joked.
Amber Tamblyn
After Cohen tried some of Tamblyn’s milk, the actress admitted that she once tried a former co-star’s breast milk.
“I’ve drunk Blake Lively’s breast milk,” she said. “So if that went through me, you’ve technically had Blake’s and my breast milk together.”
Dax Shepard
Dax Shepard had a very different experience. There were no breast milk lattes that we know of. What we do know is that he helped his wife Kristen Bell unclog a milk duct.
“Let’s just say that I extracted mastitis and we’ll leave everyone’s imagination to wander,” he said on The Drew Barrymore Show, per The Independent.
As for Bell’s side of the story? “I said to my husband: ‘I really need you to suck this out. We could talk about it, we could be weird about it, or you could just go ahead and nurse,’” she said. “He pulled it out. He had a cup next to him. He was pulling out and spitting into this cup, and I’ve never been more in love in my life.”
Ashley Graham
Ashley Graham admitted during an episode of the Ellen DeGeneres Show that she has had her own breast milk “more than once.” “It tastes good,” Graham said, aligning with the masses of celebrity parents who enjoy a little liquid gold.
