Another day, another (semi-terrifying?) recall of a kids product — and this time, it’s an already-recalled product being, um, re-recalled? Of course, it’s unsurprising that children’s items seem to be the most frequently recalled products. After all, we want to have the highest standards possible for kids’ stuff, and the potential for damage is certainly much greater when tiny bodies are involved. Toys and clothes can be recalled for a variety of reasons, but chief among them are: a design with unintended consequences, like small parts that can be swallowed, poorly made parts that can break and harm children, and products that were unknowingly adulterated with harmful chemicals or substances.
It’s worth noting, though, that recalled products won’t all necessarily need to be thrown away; some can be fixed by the manufacturer or used in a modified fashion. And while parenting is already an anxiety-inducing activity, this is also a case where knowledge is power. So with that aim, we have compiled a list of the most up-to-date kids toy and clothing recalls you and your family need to know about — from those H&M pajamas to the IKEA bib to J.Crew denim to the latest Baby Trend stroller recall.

Contigo Kids’ Water Bottles
They’re back! We can’t seem to hear the end of issues with Contigo’s kids water bottles. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Comission issued a recall of millions of them on August 27, 2019, due to an issue where the little silicone spout can detach — and a tiny detachable silicone piece is exactly what you do NOT want your child sucking on, as it poses a serious choking hazard.
At the time, ABC reported that Contigo received 149 complaints about the detachable spout, “including 18 incidents in which the spout was discovered in a child’s mouth.” And today, a second recall was issued — this time for the water bottles and replacement lids that Contigo gave out back in August, since they are apparently still detaching. Yikes.
Contigo will supply a free lid replacement for the recalled products, but honestly, at this point maybe find another water bottle?
Baby Trend Tango Mini Strollers
Baby Trend issued a recall in January 2020 of its Tango Mini Stroller, which has been deemed a fall hazard due to hinge joints that can collapse/let go under pressure. Yikes.
The product in question was sold on Amazon.com and at Target (in stores and online) from October 2019 through November 2019. About 2,000 units have been recalled but no injuries have been reported.
J.Crew Boys Jeans
J.Crew recalled the boys stone washed denim pants from its Crewcuts kids line in December 2019 because of an aspiration/choking hazard. Because of the stone-washing process, the U.S. Consumer Product & Safety Comission writes, “Small stones can be present in the pockets or waistband of the pants…posing aspiration or choking hazards to young children.”
J.Crew received one report of stones being found, and the recall only applies to boys sizes 2 and 3.
IKEA Bibs
IKEA is now recalling all MATVRÅ Infant Bibs — the blue and red two-pack ones, for those in the know — due to their presenting a choking hazard, according to a statement on the company’s website. IKEA announced that the company received “reports of the snap on the bib detaching, which could result in a choking hazard,” and noted that “neither of these incidents resulted in injury or occurred in the U.S.”
Still, if you’ve bought these cute color-blocked bibs for your little one, don’t take any risks; return them to IKEA ASAP for a full refund.
Walker Edison Twin Cottage Bunk Bed
As of September 5, 2019, Walker Edison has issued a recall of 1,200 of its childrens’ bunk beds due to support boards that “can break, posing fall and injury hazards,” according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Comission.
According to Walker Edison, the company is aware of two incidents of the support boards breaking — but no injuries as of yet. If you’ve got one of these bunk beds in your kids’ room, contact the company for a replacement.
H&M Girl’s Pajama Tops with 3D textile ears and bow trim
The pajama tops in these two sets (not the bottoms) are being recalled by H&M for failing to meet flammability standards in children’s sleepwear. The tops should be returned to H&M by contacting customer service for a free return label. You will also recieve a $20 H&M giftcard.
No injuries have been reported.
Boppy Infant Head and Neck Support Accessory
Boppy has issued a recall for their head and neck support accessory, which comes in two colors (shown). The material is overstuffed and may cause the head to be tilted too far forward and suffocate. There have been three reported incidents of babies’ heads being pushed forward but no reported injuries. If yo purchsed the head and neck support, you can contact Boppy for a safe replacement of equal value.
Forky Plush
A Forky plushy has been recalled because the googly eyes can detach and pose a choking hazard. The toy was sold at Disney stores as well as theme parks and, briefly, on Amazon. If you have purchased the toy, you can return it to Disney stores or parks for a refund. You can also contact Disney at [email protected] or call 866-537-7649 for more information. No reported incidents have happened with this toy.
Kids II Rocking Sleepers
Kids II has issued a recall for all of its Rocking Sleepers. Five infant deaths have happened since 2012 in the rocker. Infants are at risk of rolling onto their stomachs when unrestrained in the rocker, which can lead to suffocation. Parents should stop using any Rocking Sleepers from Kids II immediately and fill out the recall form online for a refund or voucher.
