Remember when the hit show The Mandalorian came out in November on Disney+? And parents everywhere were like great, cool, excuse me but where do I purchase toy versions of this adorable Baby Yoda child right now this minute? And Disney was like lol suckers, you don’t get any, we’re going to keep them under wraps until February 2020? Well. We’re relieved to announce that this extremely trying time of Baby-Yoda-less-ness in kids’ toy boxes everywhere has finally come to a close: In advance of this weekend’s New York Toy Fair, Disney has unveiled its whole batch of Baby Yoda toys. You know, the ones we’ve been waiting three months for.
“Holding back on product development gave everyone the chance to discover the character affectionately known to fans as Baby Yoda together,” Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau he said in a statement Thursday, of his choice to — somewhat cruelly, some may argue — ask Disney to hold off on making the toy merchandice. Yep, even during the Baby Yoda Meme Frenzy of 2019.
“This is something special in the age of spoilers,” Favreau added.
Well lucky us, because the spoilers are out and the wait is over. While it’s been possible to shop a few Baby Yoda toys online over the past couple months, the official ones are now available courtesy of the creators, right there in the Disney store. Today’s merchandise launch includes The Child (that’s Baby Yoda, you know) plush and bobble head toys, Disney’s Razor Crest Playset by LEGO, a Mandalorian rocket gauntlet, and a ton of other non-toy Baby Yoda goodies, from tees to iPhone cases — all available for preorder today.
