It’s time we confessed: Quarantine got us all accustomed to wearing our favorite pajamas all day, and that goes for our kids and their favorite pajamas, too. ADMIT IT. Unless you are one of the living saints of 2020 — the healthcare workers, sanitation workers, grocery store workers, etc. — who never stopped physically going to work every day in order to keep the rest of us alive (in which case, bless you and everyone else should donate to support your work at one of these options) you have 100% been spending much of this year in adorable daytime pajamas. Then, at some point, you transitioned to your adorable nighttime pajamas.
But now that some schools, daycares, and even offices are re-opening, slightly fewer of us parents are still stuck at home with kids full-time. Still, one Quarantruth we’re clinging to well into reopening is this: Real pants have gone the way of 2019. We’ll see you after the vaccine, jeans. In 2020, the only fashion keeping us going is pajamas. And that goes for our kids, too.
And when the best self-care we can manage from the isolation of our homes is to take comfort in the little things — a slobbery toddler kiss, a bedtime cuddle, an extra-large home-brewed coffee, a bright butterfly print — it’s high time we added the best festive kid pajamas to our bedtime/morning cheer-up routines. With the cute kids PJ options we’ve rounded up ahead, that’ll be easy (and delightful, and affordable), courtesy of hand-picked prints we love, from a Hanna Andersson rainbow to Posh Peanut poppies and more.
Our mission at SheKnows is to empower and inspire women, and we only feature products we think you’ll love as much as we do. Please note that if you purchase something by clicking on a link within this story, we may receive a small commission of the sale.
So order away, suit ’em up in style, and cuddle on — because these are the best kids pajamas out there.
For the artist
Hanna Andersson has outdone itself with these new PJs, which have all that super-soft cotton Hanna quality we already loved, minus the usual exciting patterns. Wait, why is that not a bummer? Because these plain-old PJs are the coziest blank canvas you’ll ever meet. Designed with your kid’s creativity in mind, they’re the perfect base for tie-dye, fabric markers, iron-ons, you name it. Get creative and go wild, kiddos. (Psst: There’s an adult size, too, so you can all get crafty.)
For the woodland elf
You can’t beat a forest print in forest green for pure hygge factor, can you? Parade Organics has been putting out prints in certified organic cotton since 2004 — the early days of organics.
For the desert-chic kid
We’re not sure when the cactus-print trend in all things kid/baby/decor is going to run its course and disappear forever, but it sure hasn’t happened yet, and we’re glad. This Southwest-style set is chic and comfy to boot.
For the flower child
Not only is this poppy-print viscose/bamboo set the softest thing your kid has ever felt; Posh Peanut also has parent-sized (!!) robes in paired patterns. And I’ve maybe been wearing one nonstop since yesterday. Maybe.
For the chillest child
If a nightdress is more your child’s speed (the ease of that midnight bathroom trip, just think!) this one comes with a positive “happy every day” message. Not that it’s required to be happy every day, kids — crying and moping are also allowed, especially in pandemic times.
For the space cadet
Mowing the lawn on the moon seems like pretty much exactly where we’d like to dream ourselves to be right now. Let your kiddo drift off with that image in mind and on their heart — plus these perfect planet shorts, too.
For the ray of sunshine
We have long loved Hanna Andersson PJs (in fact, some of us 34-year-olds may have grown up wearing them, too…), and this bright, beautiful pair in organic cotton is no exception. How can you get up grumpy when a small human rainbow is waking you up?
For the nature lover
Having a kid flying around your house/apartment wearing these PJs is basically the equivalent of living in the butterfly wing of the American Museum of Natural History. (Sob. We miss you too, museums.)
For the prepster kid
What, you didn’t know Burt’s Bees made pajamas? To be honest, neither did we. But now we all know, and we’re all the better for it — because this mint-green pair is 100% organic cotton and seriously soft.
For the cuddle expert
Another Hanna Andersson favorite (what can we say; we’re obsessed), this ‘Moon & Back’ set shows just how far a parent penguin loves their little kiddo. (They love them ’til the moon and back, duh).
For the chillier nights
For tots still in footies, these Carter’s options can’t be beat. The sweet prints range from polka dots to planets to pink dinos, and the zip from foot to chin is snug and fastens with a snap, so no snagging.
Pin these kids PJs they’ll want to wear day and night.
