To celebrate Women’s History Month, we rounded up some women-owned baby and kids brands that we think you need to know about. When it comes to supporting empowered women, we prefer to put our money where our mouths are, year-round. It’s like supporting Black-owned businesses — and not just during Black History Month. These causes always get big boosts during February and March, but these businesses don’t deserve downturns after their respective months are over. Plus, the women on this list, most of whom are mothers, made inventive and carefully crafted baby supplies, kids toys and apparel to fill gaps that they saw in stores.
Whether they were looking to create more nutritious baby food or frustrated with the “pink aisle” at toy stores, these innovative women decided to face these problems head-on and share their solutions with the world. We’re in awe that they somehow found the time and energy to start their own businesses. Not only do these wares make life more magical and fun for your little one, but in some cases, these women have made products that are safer and more transparent for moms just looking for the best possible option for their children.
If you’re hoping to start shopping a little bit more mindfully, you can check out 10 women-owned businesses you should start browsing below. No matter if you’re an expecting mom or looking to find a new toy for your 9-year-old, you’ll be able to find something below.
Our mission at SheKnows is to empower and inspire women, and we only feature products we think you’ll love as much as we do. Please note that if you purchase something by clicking on a link within this story, we may receive a small commission of the sale.
GoldieBlox
Disappointed by the lack of STEM toys for girls out there? Check out GoldieBlox, which was founded by Debbie Sterling. With an interest in engineering and science, Sterling wanted to disrupt the “pink aisle” with STEM toys.
GoldieBlox makes a variety of cool kits, including this DIY crystal glowing kit, which will teach your kids about how crystals are formed.

Yumi
This mom-founded baby food company boasts an 8-stage line of baby and kid food, ranging from purees to finger foods, so you’ll know that your little one is getting all of the nutrition that they need. Yumi was founded by best friends Angela Sutherland and Evelyn Rusli. Sutherland created the company, because she couldn’t find any baby food at the grocery store that she felt confident about feeding her baby.
Browse Yumi to find the right food for your baby.
WubbaNub
Mom Carla Schneider came up with the idea of WubbaNub when she was trying to soothe her baby during a family vacation. Her baby always got upset when he lost his pacifier (which is no doubt something every parent has experienced). This plushie, which is attached to the pacifier, keeps you from crawling around on the ground looking for a tiny pacifier. Plus, it gives your babe a cuddly soft friend.
Bumkins
Jakki Liberman founded Bumkins in 1989, after noticing her daughter’s diaper was irritating the skin on her belly. She decided to take matters into her own hands and make her own diaper. In the years since, Bumkins has expanded far beyond diapers and now makes a variety of baby and toddler products, including bibs and silicone toddler dishes.
Freshly Picked
Freshly Picked started right in mom Susan Petersen’s home when she made her son a pair of shoes. She hadn’t been able to find shoes that would stay on his feet. Freshly Picked appeared on Shark Tank in 2013 and brought Petersen’s company to a whole new level.
Freshly Picked is most well-known for their stylish moccasins, which might make your baby more fashionable than you.
The Honest Company
Co-founded by actress Jessica Alba in 2011, The Honest Company makes both baby and beauty products. The products, ranging from diapers to hand sanitzers, transparently list the ingredients, helping moms feel more confident about buying things for themselves and their little ones.
This baby arrival gift set makes the perfect baby shower present. It contains Honest Wipes, disposable baby diapers, Lavender Shampoo + Body Wash, Lavender face + Body Lotion, Lavender Hand Sanitizer Spray and All-purpose Balm.
The Tot
Although not technically a baby brand, The Tot is a retail destination founded by mom Nasiba Adilova. It combines parenting advice with a carefully vetted selection of brands to browse, ranging from baby gear to kids’ toys, including this super cool play tent.
Miles and Milan
Founder Shennel Fuller wanted to create some minimalist and practical clothing for boys and girls, because kids clothes can sometimes either be too frilly or too edgy. Her line consists of cozy neutrals that your little ones will be comfy in all day long. She named her brand after her niece and nephew.
Abby & Finn
Amanda Little co-founded Abby & Finn with her husband and two other partners to give parents an eco-friendly diaper option to shop and subscribe to, while hoping to give back to parents in need. As any parent knows, diapers certainly add up, especially chlorine-free diapers.
The company has donated 1.38 million diapers so far this year.
