Blending families together can tough but Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are here to show you that there’s hope. Garner and Affleck, who finalized their divorce in 2018, share three kids — Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10. Lopez has two kids of her own, Emme, 14, and Maximilian, 14.
Now that Lopez and Affleck have officially rekindled their relationship, the parents are figuring out the best ways to bring their families together. That involves attending school events as a group and reportedly outings like bowling, museums, and theme parks. Garner has allegedly developed a tight bond with Emme, while the soon-to-be step-siblings are forging their own close knit relationships.
As for Garner and Affleck? Garner “is in a good place with herself and with Ben,” a source toldEntertainment Tonight. “She is happy for him. She is glad that Ben is healthy and thinks he is a really good dad.” Lopez and Affleck, the insider added, are happily in love and “both want things to be great between their kids, not just the two of them.”
We took a look back at all of the sweet ways that the Garner/Affleck/Lopez family have banded together — and included some of the cutest photos to boot.
Batting cage fun
Ben Affleck joined Jennifer Lopez and her daughter Emme for a trip to the batting cages at a Sherman Oaks, California amusement center.
The blended family arrived wearing casual attire — Lopez in black stretchy pants, Affleck in a plaid shirt and Emme in a sweatshirt. Affleck and Lopez snuck in some cuddles and kisses throughout the day — because, natch (See the photos HERE.)
Bonding over shared hobbies
Garner and Emme have reportedly developed a sweet bond over their shared love of gardening.
“[Garner] is very hands-on and loves to plant plants and garden, which are things that Emme enjoys too,” an insider toldHollywood Life. “They have formed a unique bond, just as JLo has with Ben and Jennifer’s kids. It is awesome and they all know how lucky they are to be able to have this.”
Emme allegedly “really likes” Garner and Lopez “truly appreciates” how Garner has opened up her home to her children.
Holiday hangs
Lopez and Affleck have reportedly been making an effort to bring all their kids together for special occasions. A source told ET last year that the couple’s holiday plans included a whole lot of blended family fun — even when logistics get tricky.
“They plan on spending the holidays together with the kids and also taking some solo trips,” the source said. “They want to be together all of the time, so their next big things are Thanksgiving and Christmas with all the kids. There is a lot to coordinate, so they are figuring it out.”
Being protective of the new blended family
This time around, Lopez and Affleck are treating their public realtionship a lot differently. Having kids, Lopez toldPEOPLE, changed so much.
“We both were like, ‘Wow, we’re so happy and we don’t want any of that to come into play again,’” she said of the rampant media fixation. “We’re older now, we’re smarter, we have more experience, we’re at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things. We’re so protective because it is such a beautiful time for all of us.”
Quality time = the best time
Earlier this month, Garner attended a school event alongside Emme, Violet, Lopez and Affleck. Our favorite part? Hollywood Life reported that Violet was spotted putting her arm around Emme. You can see all the sweet photos HERE.
Big group jaunts
Favorite group hang outs reportedly include include theme parks, museums, bowling and burgers.
A source toldLife & Style that Lopez and Affleck “make sure all the children have a say in family outings so that no one feels excluded…Ben’s kids, especially Seraphina and Samuel, get on with J. Lo’s twins, Emme and Max. They’re all super close.”
