It may be a little too early to say, but Prince George certainly has a lot of the makings of an excellent future king — and he has his parents to thank for that!
“My parents taught me about the importance of qualities like kindness, respect, and honesty, and I realize how central values like these have been to me throughout my life. That is why William and I want to teach our little children, George and Charlotte, just how important these things are as they grow up,” Kate explained during her visit to Mitchell Brook Primary School (pre-Louis!) in February 2017, per Us Weekly. “In my view, it is just as important as excelling at maths or sport.”
Prince George and his siblings are not only learning about the importance of kindness, but they’re also being taught to articulate their emotions — which is such a crucial skill for every single person to have. “We hope to encourage George and Charlotte to speak about their feelings, and to give them the tools and sensitivity to be supportive peers to their friends as they get older,” Kate noted in an essay for Huffington Post UK in 2016. “We know there is no shame in a young child struggling with their emotions or suffering from a mental illness.”
According to multiple sources, the young royal is indeed kind, as well as adventurous and sociable. When he’s not exploring the outdoors and chatting about sports, he’s busy raising money for a charity that’s close to his dad’s heart. Quite impressive for his age, but then again, he is being groomed to excel as the future King of England.

When Prince George was just 10 years old, he was already thinking about his military service. And it seems like hee wants to follow in the footsteps of his dad and Uncle Prince Harry when serving his country. He’s a “potential pilot in the making,” Prince William reportedly said at a Buckingham Palace garden party.
He Embraced Royal Responsibility With Dedication & Grace
At just 9 years old, Prince George fulfilled the responsibility of being a Page of Honor for King Charles III during the monarch’s coronation. The young future king tended to his grandfather during the ceremony and joined the procession through Westminster Abbey wearing a somber expression, seeming to take his role quite seriously.
He Monitors His Parents’ Travels While They’re Away
High-ranking royals often travel to countries around the globe, which means Prince William and Kate Middleton are often away from their children. Ever the responsible kid and caring big brother, William revealed that George keeps up with his parents’ movements abroad and updates his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, on there whereabouts.

His personality is really starting to shine,” the source opined before adding, “Prince George is already showing that he has what it takes to be the future King of England.”
He Exuded Leadership During a Major Royal Event
A few months later, the sentiments about Prince George holding himself with newfound self-assurance were reiterated by a body language expert. According to Judi James, the young prince displayed a casual confidence at Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee that signified “the first shoots of some leadership skills.”
James told Mirrorthat George was once more shy and reserved in public settings, but during the 2022 celebration, “We could see a boy fully mirroring his father’s confidence and even showing the first shoots of some leadership skills.”
She explained, “When the state coach rolled up to the royal box it was George getting to his feet first and buttoning his jacket before urging his father to do the same.” James added, “It was George standing proudly and solemnly beside his great-grandmother on the balcony just now and he was the royal throwing her a big beaming grin of warmth when she spoke to him.”
He’s a Budding Environmentalist
During an interview with the BBC, Prince William shared that George participates in litter clean-ups through his school. “[He was] a bit sort of annoyed by the fact they went out litter picking one day and then the very next day, they did the same route, same time, and pretty much all the same litter they picked up was back again,” William said. We stan a (literal and figurative) environmental king!
He’s Attentive Toward His Siblings
Royal family expert Kaitlin Menza said on the Royally Obsessed podcast in 2019, “George is always looking out for his younger brother and sister. He’s already showing traits of making an excellent leader.” Leadership starts at home, and the young prince has embraced the quality through his station as big brother!

From an early age, Prince George became involved in philanthropic endeavors. Charlie Mayhew, chief executive of Tusk (an organization that protectss endangered animals in Africa) told GB News, per The Independent, “Prince George very sweetly did a little cake sale to raise money for Tusk during lockdown and wrote a very sweet card about it, clearly demonstrating his concern for Africa’s wildlife.”
He Displays Empathy & Respect for Other Living Beings
Further revealing how empathetic Prince George is when it comes to animals, Prince William revealed the young prince couldn’t bear to watch a certain wildlife documentary focused on extinction.
The Prince of Wales told Sky News in 2020, “Having watched so many David Attenborough documentaries recently with my children, they absolutely love them, the most recent one — the extinction one — actually George and I had to turn it off.” He explained, “We got so sad about it halfway through. He said to me, ‘You know, I don’t want to watch this anymore.'”
He’s an Extravert at Heart
Once Prince George becomes king, he’ll have to meet lots and lots of people, attend very many parties, and get used to a whole lot of hand-shaking. This may not phase him much, as it sounds like the young one is quite intrinsically extraverted.
A source told US Weekly that George is a “well-grounded down-to-earth little boy,” adding that he’s “very sociable and can chat for hours about his favorite soccer players, plus he loves rugby, cricket, all forms of sports really.”
He’s Down-to-Earth & Family-Oriented
Prince George will undoubtedly be a great patriarch for the royal family because he’s already such a solid leader for his sister and brother. “He’s very protective of his younger siblings and goes out of his way to help his mother with the household chores,” a source Us Weekly.
The Princess of Wales has been open about the various chores that George is given around the house, including moving animal feed on the family’s estate. Excellent prep for a very down-to-earth king!
