Even though Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos just started their talk show together, they already seem to have at least one person who’s anxiously awaiting to get onto the show. Now that Live is a family affair with Ripa and Consuelos, it’s only a matter of time before they get one of their kids (or all three) into the spotlight with them. In fact, in a recent interview with People, the Live Wire author said that one of their kids is itching to co-host with them.
Any guesses? Okay, fine, we’ll tell you: it’s their eldest child Michael! “When we told the kids Mark was [co-hosting], Michael was like ‘I would have been perfect for that!’ ” she said.
However, it seems their daughter Lola also has an inkling about joining the showbiz side of her family. Ripa said her daughter and Live executive producer Michael Gelman’s daughter Jamie “for years have said that they were going to take over.”
So that’s two of the Ripa-Consuelos kids on board, but it seems their youngest Joaquin has no interest right now. Consuelos added, “Joaquin’s a little reserved. But he would turn it on. He’s a drama student and he could turn it on for that hour, but I think he probably wouldn’t want to do that.”
While Ripa and Consuelos are still getting their talk show groove, we seriously can’t wait for the day they bring one (or maybe even all) of their kids onto the show.
For those that don’t know, the two lovebirds share three wonderful children named Michael Joseph, 25, Lola Grace, 21, and Joaquin Antonio, 20.
When Did Kelly & Mark Start Hosting Together?
After Ryan Seacrest’s departure in early April, Mark and Kelly made their Live with Kelly and Mark debut on April 17. Ripa even joked that they’re the new permanent team, saying, per People, “joining me today — and permanently, until one of us dies.”
How Has the Reception Been on ‘Live’?
Erm, it’s been mixed, to say the least. While they’re just getting started on finding their talk show groove, many longtime fans had a problem with multiple things like that they shared too many intimate details, how they kept cutting each other off, and more.
However, Consuelos says they’re not letting the hate get to them, and they’ll keep going with how they’re handling the show.
Is This Their First Time Working Together?
Not at all! Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa actually first met while on All My Children back in the 1990s, and since then they were in the show Hope and Faith, which ran from 2003 to 2006. While Ripa had a starring role, Consuelos appeared about 10 times throughout the show as Gary ‘The Gooch’ Gucharez.
Have They Collaborated With Their Kids in the Past?
While Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa never miss a chance to gush about their children, they’ve never worked on a project together with them. Fingers crossed that a collab could be in the future!
