Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara are expecting their second child this summer, and the happy couple just revealed the baby’s sex on The Kelly Clarkson Show. The singer and actor are already mom and dad to an absolutely adorable son, Riley Sabara, 2. The little boy just might be the cutest toddler out there, so we were so moved when he proudly revealed his little sibling’s sex.
“It’s a boy,” he said in a precious video that Clarkson aired on her show on Tuesday. Riley raised his arms in excitement, and Trainor and Sabara did the same on Clarkson’s couch.
There was some major build up to the sweet moment. The “voice of God,” who is a regular “guest” on the talk show prepared the audience for the big announcement after fan girling over Sabara, the lead actor in the Spy Kids franchise. “Fingers crossed for the reboot,” the voice said, and we are doing the same. The all-knowing being then accidentally caused some thunder and lightning before finally revealing the video of Riley. And it was worth the wait! We are so happy for the soon-to-be family of four. We already know Riley is going to be such a great big brother.
Keeping The TV Trend Going
Meghan Trainor has become the queen of television pregnancy announcements. In January she shared the happy news during a virtual appearance on the Today Show. She was promoting her book — Dear Future Mama: A TMI Guide to Pregnancy, Birth, and Motherhood from Your Bestie — and gave the hosts a sneak peek. When she opened the book, viewers saw a sonogram taped to the inside cover and the words “Baby #2 Coming Summer 2023.” Sabara then jumped in the frame and gave his wife a big ol’ hug and kiss.
In Oct. 2020, Trainor announced she was pregnant with Riley during another Today Show appearance.
“We’re so excited we couldn’t sleep,” she said. “We’ve been waiting for so long. I was thinking about who do we tell first and I’ve told Hoda since I was 19…‘I will have the most babies in the world. Every time I see you, I’m like, it’s going to happen — and it finally happened!”
Daryl Made Us Look
So just what is the singer like when pregnant? Well, her husband made a now-viral TikTok answering that question, and we watched it an embarrassing number of times. He roasted the “Made You Look” singer her in a video where he is “acting like [his] pregnant wife.” It includes a lot of dramatics, a lot of pillow adjusting, and a lot of farting. Because unfortunately the tooting is as unavoidable as it is relatable.
In between laughs, Trainor and Sabara are cheering each other on, doing something she says every parent should do.
“Me and Daryl will high five and be like, ‘We’re good at this!’” she tells SheKnows exclusively. “Like when our kid is so happy, so kind, so sweet, we’re like, ‘Yo — we make good babies! Oh, we made a star.’ So that’s why we’re confident in making more. We’re like, we’ve kept him alive for two years, we can do this.”
Fed Is Best
Trainor keeps it real with her fans. Just like her upcoming book suggests, nothing is “TMI” or off-limits. Not even her breastfeeding journey, which can be a hard thing to talk about given how judgmental people can be about how a parent feeds their baby. (Booooo)!
“I didn’t like breastfeeding because my boobies weren’t good at it,” she tells SheKnows. “I was told by a specialist that my breasts — or my nips — were too small. I was like, ‘What does that mean?’ I had to like do some science, and it didn’t work. But, I did my best and I pumped for three months. And I gave up. I’m like, ‘I’m done!’”
