Kim Kardashian still has a few years to go until her eldest child hits the teenage years, but 9-year-old North West is giving her mom a taste of what may be to come — and Twitter has a lot to say about it.
On Sunday, the SKIMS mogul attended The Daily Front Row’s Seventh Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards with her daughter in tow. Kim looked stylish as ever in a gray two-piece bandeau and skirt set by Rick Owens with gunmetal-colored heels that wound up her calves and a similarly toned metallic neck plate. North’s love for an edgy fashion moment came through in her all-black look, which included zipper-clad trousers, a graphic t-shirt, a cropped blazer, chunky Dolce & Gabbana platform boots, and futuristic sunglasses.
A little moment that transpired between the two is getting more attention than their outfit choices, however, thanks to a video that’s gone viral in the days following the event.
A Little Red Carpet Attitude
While taking photos on the “red carpet” with Chris Appleton, The Daily Front Row‘s Hair Artist of the Year award recipient and Kim’s longtime hairstylist and friend, Kim is seen talking to North as the pre-teen begins to walk away, raising her hand toward her mom as she goes.
Appearing to briefly pause to listen to Kim, North kicks back her leg then continues to walk away from her mom and Appleton, who reposition to resume taking photos as North exits.

The moment was captured on video and was, of course, posted to Twitter to be analyzed by the internet. Currently sitting at 9.7 million views, user @AstasiaWill wrote “North giving that whole house hell 😭” alongside the clip.
People were overwhelmingly critical in the replies, with comments including, “I dislike a disrespectful kid,” “Walk off was straight Kanye,” “Talk to the hand because i want to be normal like my dad,” and “North like ‘I ain’t got time for this, do you tho.'”
However, many users pointed out that North’s behavior isn’t as poor as the masses are making it out to be when considering her abnormal upbringing in the spotlight and pre-teen age.
Twitter user @SWashington35 wrote, “Looks like boundary setting 2 me. Im glad Kim didn’t embarrass her & make a scene & demand she take the pictures. I like North. She’s a boundary setter already at 9. Adults don’t even have enuff strength 2 do that yet.”

Saying Kim Kardashian is no stranger to public scrutiny is the understatement of the year, but we imagine she’s letting the latest outrage over North’s behavior roll off her back.
After all, North is a pre-teen girl, and the truth of the matter is that pretty much all teen girls roll their eyes and give their parents sass on occasion. Kim herself has been caught on camera doing the very same to her mom over the decades the Kardashians’ lives have been recorded for TV.
