Meghan Trainor is on top of her status as a soon-to-be mama of two, revealing that she and husband Daryl Sabara had the name for Baby No. 2 chosen before her first trimester was over.
During a phone interview with TODAY.com, the “Mother” singer shared, “We picked this name out when I was 10 weeks pregnant,” referring to her second baby boy due in July. “We’re very fast [at picking names]. We’re like, ‘This is what it will be’ and then we start introducing my stomach as the name,” she joked. “Everyone warned us, ‘Don’t tell the world because they’ll rip you apart!’ But I like announcing [the name] on Instagram with a baby photo,” the musician explained.
Dropping a major hint about the little one’s moniker, Trainor teased, “We love ‘B’ names. I’ll tell you that.” We can’t wait for the big reveal of Baby B’s full name after his mid-summer arrival!
The “All About That Bass” singer currently shares a 2-year-old son, Riley, with her Spy Kids actor husband, whom she married in 2018.
Announcing Her Second Pregnancy
Trainor shared the news of her second pregnancy during a virtual appearance on TODAY in January. She was promoting her book, Dear Future Mama: A TMI Guide to Pregnancy, Birth, and Motherhood from Your Bestie, and when she opened the cover to give co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Hager Bush a sneak peek, the inside cover revealed a sonogram captioned, “Baby #2 Coming Summer 2023.”
Revealing the Sex
Both Trainor and Sabara appeared as guests on The Kelly Clarkson Show in April, and they surprised viewers by revealing the sex of their second child during their conversation with Clarkson.
The two singers joked about how Trainor should announce whether the baby is a boy or girl on the show since the “Lips Are Moving” songstress revealed Riley’s sex during a previous appearance. Keeping with tradition, a video clip of the musician’s 2-year-old exclaiming, “It’s a boy!” was played for the audience, who met the announcement with thunderous applause.
Loving Parenthood
Trainor has gushed about the joys of parenthood many times since welcoming Riley in 2021. In March 2023, she told SheKnows exclusively, “Me and Daryl will high five and be like, ‘We’re good at this!’”
The singer continued, “When our kid is so happy, so kind, so sweet, we’re like, ‘Yo — we make good babies! Oh, we made a star.’ So that’s why we’re confident in making more. We’re like, we’ve kept him alive for two years, we can do this,” she joked.
One thing’s for sure: Trainor is all about that baby life!
