King Charles III’s coronation is happening in two days (!!), and nobody is looking forward to it more than the royal family. While the important event may be a little nerve-wracking for everyone involved, the family is feeling a lot more “relaxed” about 9-year-old Prince George’s special role. In an appearance today, Kate Middleton revealed that she isn’t worried at all about how Prince George will do.
The Princess of Wales Revealed that Prince George Is ‘Excited’ About This Weekend
During a visit to Soho today, the Prince and Princess of Wales stop to chat with onlookers. One person asked if Prince George was “excited” to be Page of Honour at King Charles III’s coronation this weekend, per Daily Mail, and Middleton responded, “He is actually.”
She went on, “Having done a few rehearsals, I think everyone is a bit more relaxed.”
For his part, Prince William joked that the family has a “quiet weekend” with “nothing at all” planned. With that kind of laidback attitude, it really does seem like he’s not the least bit worried about the important event!
The Royal Family Had Rehearsals This Week
On Wednesday, May 3, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, were all spotted at Westminster Abbey for a coronation rehearsal. They were joined by King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, and Princess Anne.
It’s nice to see that the rehearsals are paying off and everyone is feeling better about the big day.
Prince George Will Be a Page of Honour
Prince George will be Page of Honour alongside Lord Oliver Cholmondeley (son of Charles’ Lord-in-Waiting), Nicholas Barclay (the grandson of Charles’ second cousin Sarah Troughton), and Ralph Tollemache (son of the King’s godson Edward Tollemache). This means that the boys will attend to Charles throughout the coronation at Buckingham Palace.
This honor was originally something Prince William and Middleton were worried about. Royal expert Tom Quinn told Express last month that the duo were “worried that it will be too much for him.”
However, a Kensington Palace spokesperson told PEOPLE: “His parents are very excited and delighted that he is a page. It’s something that his parents have thought long and hard about and are very much looking forward to — and I’m sure George is, too.”
We’re sure he’ll do great with this big responsibility!
