The Irwins were in the U.S. this weekend to honor the late Steve Irwin at a gala dinner in Beverly Hills. On the beige carpet, they got to meet a special fan — Doug the Pug!
In a video posted to Twitter, the internet-famous pug’s owner Leslie Mosier wrote, “CRIKEY! Doug finally met the Irwins!!! And he was dressed in khaki! Such an incredible night honoring the legend Steve Irwin and raising funds for the @wildwarriors 🐊 .”

Robert Irwin says in the video, “Doug the Pug has entered the building. This is it!” The two-time People’s Choice Award-winning dog (with 3.6 million followers on Instagram!) posed in Australia Zoo khaki with a toy crocodile wrapped around his chest in honor of the Crocodile Hunter. Bindi Irwin, her husband Chandler Powell, and her mom Terri Irwin all got to meet the Pug and smile with him at the event.
The only person missing was Bindi and Powell’s 2-year-old daughter Grace Warrior, who we bet was super jealous she missed out!
Grace Is a Big Doug the Pug Fan
Grace is a huge Doug the Pug fan. In fact, she only wanted his merch for Christmas!
In a photo posted to Instagram in Dec. 2022, the Crikey! It’s The Irwins star wrote, “Our Christmas ❤️ Grace’s new words ‘Doug Pug’ – all morning.”
Bindi reads Grace one of Doug’s kids’ books, Doug The Pug and The Kindness Crew. Grace even had little stuffed animals of Doug’s face, so we know she will love to see the pictures of her family meeting the celebrity dog.
The Irwins Were All Dressed Up for the Event
The Irwins looked nice all dressed up for the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner, which raises money for lifesaving treatment to wildlife impacted by road traffic accidents and domestic animals attacks in Australia and works to combat poaching and the illegal wildlife trade in other countries.
Bindi wore a long-sleeve black shirt with a floral-print maxi skirt and a special gold necklace with a picture of her dad. Powell was dressed in a blue tuxedo with a bowtie, while Robert wore a black tux, a khaki shirt and a black tie. Terri coordinated with Bindi in a long-sleeve black shirt with a light green maxi skirt.
Bindi Reveals That Grace Inspired Her to Get Treatment for Endometriosis
Bindi has been open about her recent endometriosis diagnosis and treatment, recently revealing that she sought help after becoming a mom to Grace.
“It wasn’t until after I had my beautiful daughter Grace that I picked back up again and [tried] to figure out what was wrong with me,” she wrote on Instagram this week. “I decided I needed to figure out what was happening to me because I was carrying Grace up this tiny hill, and suddenly the pain hit me out of nowhere. I had to hand Grace to my mom and just curl up in the fetal position on the ground because the stabbing pain in my side was insurmountable.“
She finally got a diagnosis and had surgery, which helped her finally deal with her excruciating pain.
Grace may be too little right now to understand how cool it is to be her mom’s inspiration for healing — but one thing she’d definitely understand is how cool it would be to meet Doug the Pug for herself. We hope she gets the chance soon!
