Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter Dannielynn is nearing adulthood, and as the 16-year-old is growing older, we’re learning more about the late model’s lookalike who lost her mom before she celebrated her first birthday.
Dannielynn was born in September 2006, mere months before Smith died of a drug overdose in February 2007. Although there was speculation about who her father was followed by a lawsuit to resolve the matter, Larry Birkhead proved through a paternity test that he is indeed her biological dad.
For anyone who’s seen a photo of Dannielynn, her startlingly familiar face is undeniably near-identical to Smith’s. From her bright blue eyes and beaming smile to her blonde tresses, the teen is her mom’s doppelganger. We can only imagine how their physical similarities will grow as Dannielynn gets older.
Physical similarities aren’t the only commonalities Smith and her daughter share, according to Birkhead. In an exclusive May 2023 interview with People, the protective dad opened up about his teen’s personality and interests, touching on how many of her traits remind him of Smith — though one of Dannielynn’s preferences is notably different than her mother’s before her.
She’s Kindhearted — But Also a Bit Fussy
Birkhead sweetly told the outlet that Dannielynn is “generous like her mom.” One thing she isn’t so open about, he revealed, is her food preferences — just like Smith.
Calling her a “picky eater like her mom,” Birkhead said getting his daughter to eat meat or vegetables has “been a struggle ever since she was little.” Because of her love for less nutritious foods, including pizza and pasta, Birkhead explained, “We add vitamins and different things to get her well-rounded.”
She’s Obsessed With Sauces
Carrying on his anecdote about his daughter’s food preferences, Birkhead shared, “Her mom was a sauce, a condiment freak. She would just extra, extra, extra, extra everything and load it down. And that’s how Dannielynn is.”
She Thinks Her Mom’s Fashion Choices Were Questionable
One thing Dannielynn isn’t on board with — yet, at least — is her mom’s fashion sense.
Birkhead revealed that while Dannielynn has sported “some T-shirts and some things like that, different things that she fits in” from Smith’s wardrobe (which was cataloged and put in storage for Dannielynn to have following the Playboy centerfold’s death), she also frequently expresses that her mom’s garments are “not my style.”
“Everything that she has of her mom’s is all cataloged in storage with pictures of every event that she wore it to,” Birkhead shared. “If she appreciates it one day, she can. If she wants to give it to her kids, she can. If she doesn’t like it, she can sell it, whatever she wants to do,” he said, continuing, “But it’s there, and it’s for her whenever she wants.”
She’s Similar to Her Dad, Too
Birkhead also touched on Dannielynn’s blossoming interest in looking at colleges, sharing a potential field of study the teen is considering: forensics.
The doting dad talked of the 16-year-old’s fascination with her high school forensics class and how she enjoys talking about the subject outside of school. He joked, “[It’s] great because I like to watch Dateline, so we’re on the same page with that.”
Of her burgeoning interest, Birkhead added, “You know how kids do. They can say this today, but tomorrow, she’s into something else.” Good thing she has a few more years to determine what she’d like to pursue!
