Proving once again she’s the queen of penning heartfelt, tear-inducing letters for her family members, Rumer Willis is making us ugly cry with her breathtaking birth photos and beautifully-worded message for her daughter Louetta.
The House Bunny actress shared a handful of raw images of her homebirth, with her partner, Derek Richard Thomas, as well as mom Demi Moore and sisters Scout and Tallulah Willis gently cheering her on as the newest Willis girl made her way into the world. The photos are a visual testament to the family’s incredibly special, unbreakable bond — you can feel their unwavering love for one another through the pictures alone.

Willis also shared a few post-birth photos of herself and Baby Lou, and the new mom looks absolutely overjoyed in each sweet snap. She has the biggest, most cheeseball smile pasted on her face in every shot — a true testament of the emotions she describes in the accompanying caption.
“To my girl, my most precious girl Lou 🌱,” the Dancing with the Stars champion began. “I have waited and dreamed of you my whole life. You are more than I could have ever imagined. You have changed my life in the most profound way. It is the privilege and honor of my life to be your Mother and I will do everything and anything for you always.” She adorably added, “I hope you never stop wanting to sleep next to me or take baths with me.”
A Mother-Daughter Bond Across Space & Time
Willis confesses to feeling eager to see who her daughter will become, while simultaneously feeling like she’s always known her. The actress wrote, “One of the first things i said after you were born was ‘oh my girl, I missed you.'”
She explains, “I didn’t even realize I had said it til @buuski told me later but it’s true. I feel like i have always known you and you me. You are the most beautiful creature I have ever met. I still wake up every morning and can’t believe you are mine.” Our eyes have never felt leakier — Willis is describing pure magic.
She continues, “Thank you for choosing me to be your mama, thank you for trusting me to guide you through your life. Every moment and contraction and every bit of the pain of birth was worth it and I would do it a thousand times over if it means getting to spend one sec with you.”
A Beautiful Partnership
Willis sweetly thanks Thomas, her “partner in crime in this uncharted journey into parenthood,” for “giving me the gift of this beautiful soul and for catching our girl as she came into the world and for holding such beautiful space for me as I brought her into the world.”
The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star expresses how “lucky” Louetta is to have Thomas as her daddy and adds, “We are so grateful for you and love you so much.”
A Sisterhood Like No Other
Willis also thanks her sisters for their role in her birth and larger journey into motherhood, deeming their presence for Louetta’s arrival “a moment I will never forget.”
She poignantly adds, “You have watched and supported me on the journey and know what it meant to bring another precious girl into our lineage.” What an incredible dynamic this family has — truly so special.
A Generational Love
A day earlier, the Empire actress penned an equally-touching tribute for Moore, sharing additional birth photos of the Ghost icon calmly coaching her eldest daughter through labor.
Referencing Mother’s Day, Willis wrote, “To be able to celebrate this day with you is beyond words, the privilege to walk in this path of motherhood with you by my side to support and guide me is something I have only dreamed of.”
She thanked her mom for “holding the most beautiful space for me as I made the transition from maiden to mother” and “helping me walk through and rise to the occasion to have the birth I dreamed of.” If their bond feels this powerful through words alone, we can only imagine how fierce it feels in person.
There’s No Love Like a Mother’s Love
Confirming that age-old saying about never knowing how much a mother loves her children until you become a mother with children of your own, Willis wrote, “What a gift to finally truly understand the depth of love that you have for me and my sisters because of my own endless well of love I have for my daughter. I love you mom.”
Conveying just how awe-struck she is, the new mama continued, “I am filled with so much joy and gratitude. I have never been so happy in my whole life. I have dreamed of this day since before i was born,” she said of her entrance into the realm of motherhood.
Only the Beginning
Louetta Isley Thomas is the couple’s first child, and prior to her magical arrival, Willis had already expressed a desire to have more babies. Of having a big family of her own, the actress told People in April 2023, “The more the merrier. I’m like, let’s go,” she joked.
“I’m one of five sisters. Even though we’re from two separate litters, I can’t imagine not having siblings,” Willis explained. “We are so close. My sisters are my best friends. I can’t imagine not giving my kids that.”
During a February 2023 appearance on the Bathroom Chronicles podcast, the then-mom-to-be opened up about her innate desire to become a mother from a young age.
“It’s like one of those weird things that I know sometimes people have such clarity about, like ‘Oh, I want to be a musician, I want this,’ and it was never a question for me that I wanted to be a mom,” she said. “And that just felt like such a divine purpose and something that when I started thinking about it, felt like such joy.”
Looks like it’s genuinely a lifelong dream coming true for this mama.
