You’ve heard of love at first sight, but what about a shared “instantaneous” desire to have a baby together? For Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey, that’s exactly how their daughter Matilda came into being.
Before she met the Ozark actor in 2022, becoming a mom “just wasn’t on my radar,” according to the Big Bang Theory alum. Cuoco explained to Emmy magazine that having a baby “was not a goal of mine,” adding, “As a young girl I dreamed of it, but I became involved in my career. Then when we met, it was instantaneous — ‘Oh my God, I want to have a kid with you.'”
She continued, “We both wanted it so badly, which was not what I thought my life would be. I love my career and wanted to just keep living my life. But Tom came along, and something changed,” Cuoco explained. “We’re not twenty, so we felt like we probably couldn’t wait too long. Then we got so blessed — it happened right away.”
During a May 2022 interview with USA Today, The Flight Attendant actress explained that she and Pelphrey were set up by their shared manager, who insisted the pair would be “perfect for each other.” And right she was — Cuoco recalled meeting Pelphrey, sharing, “I heard his voice, and I turned around, and it was like my life was over, or just starting. It hit me. It was love at first sight,” she said. “We were immediately connected. I do feel like I’ve known him my whole life, but I wasn’t ready for him.” It doesn’t get dreamier than this!
Announcing Their Pregnancy
Both Cuoco and Pelphrey took to Instagram to announce their pregnancy in October 2022. They shared the same series of photos, including one of the couple holding coffee mugs that read “Papa Bear” and “Mama Bear,” with their own gushing captions.
The Mank actor wrote, “And then it was even MORE BETTER. 🎀🎀🎀. Love you more than ever @kaleycuoco ♥️🙏♥️,” while the 8 Simple Rules actress wrote, “💕Baby girl Pelphrey coming 2023💕 beyond blessed and over the moon… I 💓you @tommypelphrey!!!”
Welcoming Their Fated Daughter
In late March 2023, the happy couple shared the news of their daughter’s arrival. Taking to Instagram again, Cuoco wrote, “The new light of our lives! We are overjoyed and grateful for this little miracle. … @tommypelphrey didn’t think I could fall even more in love with you, but I did.”
Pelphrey shared a swoon-worthy announcement, writing “My heart is full of love and gratitude for this miracle. Eternally grateful for the strength and bravery of my soulmate and best friend @kaleycuoco. You are incredible.”
Admiring Cuoco As a Mother
Pelphrey has made several loving comments about witnessing Cuoco become a mother in the months since welcoming “Tildy.” The actor told Access Hollywood in April 2023, “She is so good at it. You know, it’s like all the qualities that I love about Kaley times 100.” He sweetly continued, “She’s so funny, and she’s so nurturing and easy and playful and loving … I mean, so loving. You know, it’s beautiful.”
Then, in conversation with People in May 2023, he said parenthood is “amazing.” Pelphrey added, “It’s heaven, it’s challenging at times. It’s the most beautiful thing ever.”
Of raising a child with Cuoco, the Ozark star said, “I’m so grateful to have a partner who I love to do it with because just two days with a baby in the house and I think of parents who are raising kids by themselves, and I don’t even understand how they do it. My respect for single parents has gone through the roof,” he humbly shared.
