Parenthood is made up of many special moments. Like first words, first steps, first time carrying your screaming child in a public space while everyone stares at you … but we have all been there, I promise! Andy Cohen recently opened up about his 4-year-old son Ben’s epic tantrum — where he “screamed bloody murder” on the streets of New York — and, well, we can’t help but feel a little better after reading it!
Tantrum Tales
The Bravo TV host told the tale of his son’s fit on his Instagram Stories Monday, per PEOPLE.
“My son just cried. Cried is actually a kind way of putting it,” Cohen said. “My son just screamed bloody murder for three city blocks because he wanted a long-sleeve shirt and not a short-sleeve shirt.”
Because he wanted a long-sleeve shirt — in the summertime! At one point or another, we have all been Cohen walking with our screaming kids and trying not to cry ourselves out of sheer frustration. Sharing these experiences helps us all feel better because we are definitely not alone!
In his Stories, Cohen went on: “So if you saw me in the Village, that’s what the issue was. It was not a child protective services moment, just so you know.”
Moving On
Cohen, who is also dad to 1-year-old Lucy, then got a little vulnerable. His son is now over the tantrum — but he feels traumatized (don’t we all feel traumatized by our kids every now and then?).
“I don’t know how I’m going to regroup from this fit,” he said, per PEOPLE. “He seems fine now, but I’m not. What do I do?”
Ah, this is so relatable! The moment when your toddler moves on and you are still reeling from the most epic fit. It’s hard to stay calm!
Tired Out
In an interview with NPR last month, Cohen opened up about being tired as a single dad, and we feel for him!
“I am tired, but I’m really tired because of the kids, frankly,” he said, which is so relatable. “I’ve got the jobs that I have covered. It’s the kids that are the right turn.”
He added, “Everything has changed. My axis has changed. My priorities have changed. The way I live my life every day has changed.”
Navigating public meltdowns on little sleep isn’t for the faint-hearted, but Cohen is doing an amazing job. You got it, dad!
