After revealing her baby bump in a sweet Instagram post yesterday, Shawn Johnson (and her baby-to-be!) made their red carpet debut at the ESPY Awards last night! The former Olympic gold medalist walked the red carpet with husband Andrew East in a gorgeous mermaidcore dress, and she was absolutely glowing.
Mermaid Vibes
Johnson wore a floor-length turquoise dress at the 2023 EPSYs, which were held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on July 12. The long skirt was fitted around her thighs and seemed to ripple down her legs like a real-life mermaid tail. The sleeveless bodice showed off her toned arms, and the tight-fitting waist nicely revealed her rounded bump.
Sparkle
She paired the stunning dress with long sparkling earrings, which you could see as her long blonde hair was tucked behind her ears. She was absolutely glowing as she smiled for the cameras.
Kissing
East joined Johnson on the red carpet, looking dapper in an all-black tux. The two are already parents to daughter Drew, 3, and son Jett, who turns 2 this month. At one point, he dipped her for a dramatic kiss, which she held with one arm protecting her bump.
Teammates
Johnson’s former Team USA teammate and Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin also walked the red carpet, channeling her inner Barbie in a sparkly pink gown with a plunging neckline.
Q&A Time
Taking to her Instagram Stories today, Johnson answered more questions about her pregnancy. She revealed that she is currently 17 weeks pregnant, but joked that she is “looking 27.”
The former gymnast revealed that she isn’t finding out the sex of the baby until the birth, and she’s “really excited about it.”
One person asked how this pregnancy differed for the parents-to-be, and Johnson answered that they were “so much more distracted because we have two littles.” She also had some different pregnancy symptoms, including feeling “so nauseous in the first trimester that I, like, couldn’t function.” Poor mama!
The couple also joked that they “used up all of our favorite names” so now baby number three will “just get the scraps.” Hey, we love them for keeping it real!
