There was a special royal family outing this weekend. While families worldwide tuned in to the final men’s singles match of the Wimbledon tennis tournament, Kate Middleton and her loved ones watched from the stands as Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic competed for the title. (In the end, Alcaraz came out on top).
Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte were seen cheering in person, but one member of the family was not in attendance. It seems the Prince and Princess of Wales decided to leave their youngest, Prince Louis, at home. This could have been for any number of reasons, but we have an inkling it was because of the little royal’s infamous antics.
It’s a pretty safe assumption that he would have distracted Kate and William from the highly anticipated match. But for those of us who live for how unimpressed Louis is with majorly significant events (like King Charles III’s coronation where he was spotted yawning and Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee where he was seen taunting his mom), it was a major disappointment. For those of us who aren’t invested in what happens on the court (guilty!), we would have loved to see the fourth in line to the throne being silly in the stands.
Wild Card
You never know how Prince Louis is going to act at a public outing, and it’s exactly what we love about the 5-year-old royal. There’s no pomp and circumstance. Just a whole lot of third-child energy. He could roll his eyes or snuggle up with his mom or yell at his grandmother’s jubilee.
Yet another reason why he was probably absent from an event where it’s important to keep your lips sealed.
Not His First Rodeo
Prince George attended his first Wimbledon match in 2022. This was Princess Charlotte’s first time at the tournament, and we have no doubt her big bro was showing her the ropes and explaining the rules like he seems to be doing in this picture.
Another Theory
The Prince and Princess of Wales may not have left Prince Louis at home because of his [totally normal 5-year-old] behavior, but because they treat him differently than his siblings. After all, an insider said, they inadvertently play favorites, and we bet the favorite is allowed to skip out on some royal engagements.
“William and Kate are easier on Louis because he’s the baby of the family,” the insider said. “They don’t want to break his little spirit.”
