Lionel Messi is one of the most popular soccer players right now, so of course Kim Kardashian’s sports-loving son Saint, 7, is a fan. The World Cup winner just made his Major League Soccer (MLS) debut as part of Inter Miami CF — a team co-owned by iconic soccer star David Beckham! — and Kardashian and Saint went to cheer him on. While they were there, the mother-son duo gave a press interview, and Saint was so cute as he got excited about the grossest thing.
Saint Interrupts His Mom
At the Leagues Cup 2023 match against Cruz Azul at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on July 21 (which Inter Miami won 2-1), the SKIMS founder spoke to an Apple TV reporter in a video shared by Major League Soccer.
Kardashian wore a white crop top and jeans at the event, and her son was standing right behind her during the interview, acting silly and smiling for the camera.
She revealed that her son brought her out to the game. “He’s obsessed with soccer. And I will do everything for my babies. So I’ve traveled the world. We do soccer trips and it’s not stopping. All summer we’re going to different exhibition games.”
At this point, Saint interrupted Kardashian, and she smiled and told him to stop, prompting him to walk back toward his friend.
The Kardashians star said she was a goalie and center forward and played soccer for “five or six years” when she was younger. “I wasn’t bad,” she said. “I loved it. So I’m happy that my boy loves it and that we can come and hang out.”
Saint excitedly walked up to his mom to show her something, and like any 7-year-old boy, he was happy about the grossest thing.
“He has the players’ sweat on him,” she told the reporter. “Oh my gosh. They’re so excited. That just makes me so excited. I’m happy to be here with Victoria and David [Beckham] and everyone.”
She added that his favorite player was “absolutely Messi.”
Saint Got to Meet Messi
During the game, Kardashian and Saint sat with friends and other celebrities, including Serena Williams and Lebron James. (Khloe Kardashian’s ex Tristan Thompson was there as well.) Saint wore a black-and-pink Inter Miami jersey, as he excitedly watched the game with a huge smile on his face.
Saint, who is Kardashian and ex Kanye West’s second-born child, is a huge sports lover. In March 2023, Kardashian took her son to an Arsenal Football Club game in London. “Soccer moms unite!!!” she wrote on Instagram. “This was the trip of a lifetime! Taking Saint and his besties to London to see @arsenal play!!! ⚽️”
She also shared more about the Inter Miami game on her Instagram Stories. At one point, Saint and his friend got to meet Messi, and she captioned it, “Best day of their entire lives,” per E! News.
Celebrity Friends
Serena Williams, who is currently pregnant with her second baby with husband Alexis Ohanian, was photographed with her growing baby bump, as she talked and smiled with Kardashian.
David and Victoria Beckham also shared a photo with Williams at the event, as well as a family photo with Kardashian and Saint, which included the Beckhams’ daughter Harper, 12, and son Cruz, 18.
“The perfect night 🩷🖤 Thank you to all my family & friend’s for supporting like you always do 🩷🖤,” Beckham wrote on Instagram.
