Lindsay Lohan recently welcomed her firstborn child, a baby boy named Luai with husband Bader Shammas, and she received the sweetest gift from her Freaky Friday mom Jamie Lee Curtis. The Falling for Christmas star shared a video of the heartwarming gift, and it’s actually so thoughtful.
“Thank you @jamieleecurtis 🙏🩵☺️🤗,” Lohan wrote over a video on her Instagram Stories. She then panned over her couch, which featured three children’s books written by Curtis and Laura Cornell, and one book photographed by Curtis and illustrated by Barney Saltzberg. The gift also included a tote bag that said, “Books to Grow By” and a special note from Curtis.

“A warm welcome to your Luai — I can’t wait to meet him! XO J.” said the handwritten note.
In the video, Lohan says, “Thank you so much, Jamie! Thank you — and there’s more,” she adds, before opening the tote to show it filled with even more books.
What a sweet gift! Even though little Luai is only a few weeks old, now is the perfect time to start reading to him. In fact, one study found that kids who are read one book a day will hear about 290,000 more words by age 5 than those who don’t regularly read books with a parent or caregiver. That’s a pretty big difference!
Jamie Lee Curtis Is Luai’s ‘Movie Grandmother’
A rep for Lohan confirmed that her “beautiful” and “healthy” baby was born in July, explaining that Luai is an Arabic name that means “shield or protector.” They added, “The family is over the moon in love.”
On July 17, Curtis took to Instagram to share two photos of herself with Lohan, calling herself the baby’s “movie grandmother.”
“MAGIC MONDAY!” she wrote in the caption. “My movie daughter just made me a movie grandmother. Blessings to Lindsay and Bader for the birth of Luai! @lindsaylohan.” So sweet!
Parenting Lessons from ‘Freaky Friday’
In May 2023, Curtis and Lohan gave a joint interview in The New York Times for the 20th anniversary of Freaky Friday, where they talked about parenting lessons they have learned.
The Mean Girls star said filming the movie taught her “to have more patience.” She added, “You want to let them explore and live the way they need to live — with boundaries. I’m not there. I’m getting there. In a year, come back to me and ask me what it’s like. And then in 16 years.”
Curtis, who is mom to Ruby, 27, and Annie, 36, with husband Christopher Guest the movie taught her to “suspend the judgment, open the ear, listen more.”
She added, “Also, as a parent, we’re sizing up all the time: shoes, clothes, foods. It’s all future thought. My lesson from Freaky Friday was to be where your feet are.”
