Jana Kramer is making a big change with baby number three. The One Tree Hill alum is pregnant with her third child (and first with fiancé Allan Russell!), and she revealed the major way she is breaking a naming tradition.
In a recent episode of her podcast, Whine Down with Jana Kramer, Kramer explained that she originally wanted to name her baby boy “Jax” but ultimately decided against it because it was too close to the dog breed Jack Russell (Jax Russell? Yeah, he would definitely be teased in school). After the podcast, she clarified her decision on her Instagram Story, per PEOPLE.

“Officially, we have moved on from the name that I really, really wanted,” Kramer said in response to a fan asking if she would continue the naming tradition of “J” names. “It’s just not working. … It’s really funny.”
She added that her baby-on-the-way will have a moniker that starts with “R,” unlike her previous two children, Jolie, 7, and Jace, 4, who she shares with ex-husband Mike Caussin. As a mom of three kids that start with “L” names, I totally respect this decision! It can be a lot of pressure to continue the same naming tradition for your third baby as you followed with your other two, but breaking that tradition is absolutely fine too. And, I bet she won’t get the kids names mixed up (as much, anyway) if they start with different letters!

The “Let It Burn” singer announced her pregnancy in June.
“We’ve been keeping another secret from you guys (I promise this is the last Announcement…at least for a little while 🤣),” Kramer wrote on Instagram, “but I’m pregnant!!!!”
“Beyond blessed and grateful for this baby to be a part of our story. I never thought I would see the word pregnant again on a test, but thankful for @clearblue for making it as clear as ever,” she added.
Different Pregnancy
So far, this pregnancy has been different for Kramer than her first two.
“I was sick with Jolie and I had hyperemesis gravidarum with Jace. I’ve been sick with this one but not as sick as the last two,” she told PEOPLE.
However, she did have a scare in the beginning. “In the beginning of this pregnancy, I was bleeding a lot. It was scary, and I went to the doctor like, ‘I’ve miscarried,'” she explained. “I actually had a large hemorrhage, so they’d have to monitor me, which has been kind of great because I’ve gotten to see the baby so much. Everything’s good now, thank goodness.”
Sibling Love
In a new video posted to Instagram yesterday, Kramer showed off her growing baby bump while resting on the couch. In it, Jace is eating gummy bears and pretending to feed his baby brother through his mom’s bump. He even points to her belly button at one point, informing his mom, “He can see in there!” while Jolie shakes her head.
“Jace likes to feed the baby 😂. And Jolie isn’t buying it,” Kramer captioned the cute video.
It seems these two are super excited for their new baby brother, and it’s adorable.
