The end of summer is bittersweet. On the one hand, parents are so excited for their kids to go back to school. On the other, we just know we are going to miss those little snack gobblers as soon as they walk out the door. The only solution? Follow Reese Witherspoon’s lead and just soak up all the sweet last days of summertime that you can. The Your Place or Mine star recently posted a series of photos with sons Deacon, 19, and Tennessee, 10, and they’ll fill you up with joy.

In the first photo, Witherspoon wears a white tank and shorts, accessorized with several necklaces and black sunglasses. She is sitting outside on the porch and giving the camera the biggest, wide-open grin. She also shares a selfie with Tennessee, who she shares with ex Jim Toth, on the back of a boat, with a beautiful sunset behind them.
Photo three is a selfie of Witherspoon with Deacon, who she shares with ex Ryan Phillippe. Deacon is wearing a button-down shirt and baseball cap as he smiles next to his mom. Another photo shows Deacon admiring the sunset by the pool. It looks like something out of a dream!
Lots of Love
At the end, Witherspoon shared an inspirational quote by Cleo Wade. “Life will change you or you can change with life. We are in motion. Everything we know is always moving. We can wrestle with this energy or we can dance with it. The choice is completely up to you.” The words seem especially poignant this summer, as the Hello Sunshine founder is going through a divorce with Toth after almost 12 years of marriage.
Thankfully, it looks like Witherspoon is growing and adapting and spending time with those she loves. And people noticed. Octavia Spencer commented on her post, “Gorgeous in every way!”
Salma Hayek wrote, “😍😍😍.”
Deacon even commented, “Love u mama.” Our hearts!
Spending Time With Her ‘Favorite Daughter’
Earlier this month, Witherspoon spent some one-on-one time with her daughter Ava, 23, who she also shares with Phillippe.
“Summer nights with my favorite daughter 😎💗✨,” she captioned a photo on Instagram. They looked like twins in strapless sundresses with black sunglasses on. We love she is making time with all of her children!
She Is ‘Really Grateful’ for Her Kids
In a June 2021 cover story for Interview, the Legally Blonde alum gushed to Tracee Ellis Ross about having adult kids.
“That makes me want to cry, the idea of having a long relationship with adult children,” she said. “I never expected the kind of relationship that I have with them, but it’s so rewarding to be able to have kids that you can process life with a little bit, and they help me understand the complexities of what it means to be a human now. So I’m really, really grateful that these little humans are in my life. Adult humans. I have two adult children now, Tracee. It’s crazy.”
It may be crazy, but she’s handling it with grace!
