Chrissy Teigen Says Sweet Newborn Wren Acts Like He’s ‘Meant To Be in the Tummy’

Wren Was Born Via Surrogate

Wren was born via surrogate in June. “Just minutes before midnight on June 19th, I got to witness the most beautiful woman, my friend, our surrogate, give birth amidst a bit of chaos, but with strength and pure joy and love,” Teigen wrote on Instagram. “We want to say thank you for this incredible gift you have given us, Alexandra. And we are so happy to tell the world he is here, with a name forever connected to you, Wren Alexander Stephens.”

At the time, she wrote about her experience with “the most incredible, loving, compassionate surrogate we could ever imagine, Alexandra.”

Teigen said, “I knew she was a perfect match for us the moment we spoke to her. All our wishes and dreams aligned. I wanted to be her friend, I wanted our children to play, I wanted dinner together, I wanted to lay my head on her belly and be able to feel the hiccups and kicks. I wanted them to be in our lives for as long as time would allow.”

Chrissy Teigen Is Still Friends With Her Surrogate

In her interview with PEOPLE, Teigen shared that she is still friends with Alexandra. “We talk all the time, constantly on a nice little text exchange. She sees all my Instagram Stories and I try to send her little pictures behind the scenes. I told her at the beginning of this journey, I wanted someone who would be there for birthday parties and throughout life.”

Teigen continued, “I wanted to meet her children and I wanted my children to be friends with her children. And they really genuinely are which has been a really beautiful thing to see.”

After admitting that her relationship with her surrogate is “something that’s maybe a little different from what other parents do,” Teigen said she is “just really happy it turned out the way it turned out.”

“It felt very much like a village. It felt very much like the way people in my mother’s family raised their children when they were literally living in the villages of Thailand,” she said. “It just feels like such good camaraderie around each other and warmth and love.” 

Teigen turned what could have been an awkward or uncomfortable experience into something that is a truly beautiful (if a little unusual) relatioinship. She said this is part of her philosophy that “more love is more love.” 

“I was never one of those people who believe in hoarding all of this love for myself,” she went on. “I don’t get jealous when my children love on somebody else or hug them. To me, more love is more love and that’s what I’ve always wanted and it’s been really working out for us. We’re so lucky.”

Chrissy Teigen & John Legend Have Four Kids

Teigen and Legend are also parents to 7-month-old Esti, 7-year-old Luna, and 5-year-old Miles. In her interview with PEOPLE, she gave a little update on her other kids, too.

“Esti, she came out swinging. She was ready to live and thrive and she’s just so sweet and smiling,” she said. “Miles and Luna are the coconuts. They’re crazy, bonkers and a lot to keep up with, but they help us so much with the babies.”

“We did the right thing, being able to travel with all of them, and we had a really fun couple of weeks with them,” she added of their summer trip, which included LEGO-building and swimming.

Hopefully Teigen soaks up Wren’s little snuggles while she can. It won’t be long until he’s just as wild and full of energy as his older siblings!
