You may know Molly Sims as a model, an actress, a podcast host, or even from her latest venture as the founder of luxe skincare brand YSE Beauty. But if you follow the multihyphenate mama of three on Instagram, you probably also know her as something else: a sports mom.
Sims’ stories and feed are filled with images of her kids’ athletic endeavors, from 6-year-old Grey’s basketball to 8-year-old Scarlett’s equestrian events to 11-year-old Brooks’ lacrosse. There’s lots of lacrosse on her feed. Sims is a lax mom through and through — in fact, as we’re talking, she shares that she’s putting together a lacrosse camp at her house and is trying to figure out the logistics (not to mention the cost) of feeding 10 hungry tween boys.
Sims was an athletic kid herself, playing both tennis and basketball in high school in Kentucky as well as cheerleading. “I learned a lot from sports,” she says. “You’ve got to be a team player. You’ve got to know how to play with others. You’ve got to know how to lead. And I want my kids not to be douchey and to not be on drugs.”
So yeah, Sims keeps things real — in interviews and on IG, too. Honestly? I’ve never felt more seen as a sports mom myself than when I saw a photo of Sims at one of Brooks’ games in a downpour. Sports-mom lesson number one: Rain does not always mean your kid’s event will be canceled — so you’d better be prepared.

To that end, we asked Sims to share her must-have products for schlepping sports equipment, staying dry, and looking stylish in the process — because this is Molly Sims, after all. To be sure, some of these come with A-list-level price tags, but let’s remember that a bargain chair isn’t a bargain if you have to replace it every season. Keep reading for her recommendations.
A Wagon
A collapsable wagon is a must for toting sports gear, chairs, coolers, and more. Sims recommends the (admittedly super-pricey) Veer Cruiser All-Terrain Cruiser as well as this (much less expensive) MacSports Wagon Classic.
A Tumbler
Sporty kids aren’t the only ones who need hydration — their parents do, too. Like so many of us, Sims is a fan of Stanley’s classic tumblers. “The Stanley cup is a great cup because it keeps your water cold and you drink more water with a straw than without a straw,” she says.
A Chair
Sims put it best on Instagram when she wrote, “Happiness is finding the perfect chair for your kid’s sports games.” A chair with a shield is always a good bet, but she also loves her Cliq chair, “because it’s small and you can [just] whip it out.”
Sunscreen
“I have 17 different sunscreens on at all possible times,” Sims says. “I have mineral, chemical, stick…” And while she didn’t specifically call out her own YSE Beauty Skin Glow SPF 30 Primer, we will — because it’s so good. It has a moisturizing shimmer that will make you look fresh even at early morning games when you decidedly aren’t.
A Cooler
Like many sports moms, Sims is a fan of Yeti coolers — but not just any Yeti. Don’t get her started on the ones with the magnetic closure. Instead, she prefers the “phenomenal” little Yeti Hopper Flip, which zips shut.
A Hat
Sims has a great selection of hats, and her go-to brand is, admittedly, an investment. “I highly recommend biting the bullet and getting a great Janessa Leoné hat,” she says.
A Pair of Rain Boots
Did we mention rain? “I would invest in a pair of small Hunter boots,” Sims recommends. (We’re fans in particular of the cute Play style.) “Your good Celines, your good Adidas, your brand new Air Jordans that you’re wearing to try to match with your kid to make you look cool — you don’t want to ruin those.”
A Crossbody Bag
A chic crossbody — Sims has been spotted with a Gucci bag, but we happen to like this Lululemon Crossbody Camera Bag — is on Sims’ list for the most relatable reason: “You constantly say you’re not going to carry their equipment; It’s disgusting. And then you end up carrying it,” she says, exasperated. “Something with a crossbody for your phone, your wallet, really comes in handy when you’re carrying 900 things.”
A Raincoat
Sims has had her eye on an investment-piece raincoat from Swedish brand Stutterheim since borrowing a friend’s — and after taking a peek (we like the Mosebacke raincoat), we want one too!
