Driving the kids to school always seems more fun for the parents than for the kids. We want to talk about their upcoming day and send them off with smiles, and they just want to sulk or complain or listen to music. (This can’t be just my family!) Jimmy Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearny recently shared a dashcam video of taking their kids Jane, 9, and Billy, 6, to school, and things took a drastic turn when they happened upon Olivia Rodrigo.
In a video posted to the Jimmy Kimmel Live Twitter, Kimmel asks his kids, “Are you guys ready to learn things at school today?”

“No, not really,” Jane responds, adding, “I just don’t like school.” I knew other parents dealt with this too!
As they turn a corner, Kimmel casually says, “Oh, there’s a hitchhiker up here.” He slows down and Jane puts her hands over her mouth, instantly recognizing the “Vampire” singer.
“Oh my god, Billy, it’s Olivia Rodrigo,” she says in a stunned voice.
Jane’s Reaction
“Hey, do you guys mind if I hitch a ride?” Rodrigo says as she opens the door. Jane’s hands are covering her face because she is so in shock, and it’s adorable. Billy kind of shyly smiles, while Jane looks like she’s trying not to cry.
Rodrigo climbs in the car and sits between the two kids. Jane hands are covering her face and she keeps saying “oh my god.” At one point, Rodrigo says, “Hi Jane! I’m Olivia.” Jane responds by just nodding her head yes, making Rodrigo bust out laughing. It’s so cute!
Singing Together
Later, Kimmel tells the “Good 4 U” singer that “we listen to your music on the way to school all the time.” McNeary chimes in, “Yup! We love it!”
Rodrigo turns to Jane and asks what her favorite song is, and she responds: “Um, I really like ‘Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl.’”
“That’s one of my favorites too, that’s so sweet. Thank you for saying that!” she says.
When McNeary asks Billy what his favorite song is, he responds, “The ‘Get Him Back!’ song.” She tells Rodrigo, “He wants to get him back for you.” McNeary then prompts Billy to tell Rodrigo what he wants to do when he gets him back.
“Punch him in the penis,” Billy immediately answers, rendering Rodrigo speechless. Who needs security when you could have Billy?
Afterward, Kimmel plays both of his kids’ favorite songs so the kids could sing along with her. It’s just so sweet. Once they drop off the kids at school, Kimmel says, “That was great. Boy, they’ll never forget that. They better not ever forget that.” Ha! So relatable. Watch the video HERE.
The Comments
“This is wholesome,” one person commented on the sweet video.
“Aw how fun is this,” another wrote.
Someone else wrote, “Olivia was flabbergasted with what the boy said.” (She’ll understand if she ever becomes a mom!)
“OH MY GOSH THIS IS SO CUTE JANE IS SO REAL,” another said.
Nepo babies get a lot of flak, but this is such a cute moment that we can’t help but adore this video, too! Jane is everyone meeting their favorite celebrity, and it’s just too cute.
Olivia Rodrigo Has Many Celebrity Fans
Many celebrities’ kids are fans of Rodrigo. Christina Milan took her then-12-year-old daughter Violet to the red-carpet premiere of Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U (A Sour Film). They were all smiles in matching pink, and it’s so cute!
In July 2022, Jessica Simpson’s daughter Maxwell, then 12, went to her first concert. She saw Rodrigo live with Selena Gomez and her younger sister Gracie.
“She met a really good friend of Selena’s little sister, so Max got to go to her first concert,” Simpson said during an Instagram Live, adding that she wished she could have gone to her daughter’s first concert. “But she’s 10 years old, she’s got to see a live show. So thank you Olivia Rodrigo for that show. And thank you Selena for being a great babysitter.”
Jimmy Kimmel’s Kids Are ‘Very Funny’
Kimmel opened up about his kids with McNeary in an interview with PEOPLE in Sept. 2022. “They are very funny,” Kimmel said. “Well, they have no respect for me whatsoever. They make fun of me. They’re just goofballs.”
And it turns out, Billy had a penchant for penis jokes even back then. “My son is 5-years-old [and] he’s actually into shipbuilding,” Kimmel joked. He clarified, “And no, he likes Spider-man and showing his penis to dinner guests.” Are all little boys the same?!
