If you’ve been keeping an eye on Chrissy Teigen’s Instagram stories (we always are … we’re kind of obsessed …), you’ll know that her kids’ playroom became the most fun “booby trap” recently. And as you’re probably well aware, what’s most fun for the kids to play with is the biggest nightmare for parents to clean up.
The kids (we have to believe Teigen’s 7-year-old daughter Luna was the mastermind) hung up a bunch of string to zig-zag across the entire room. They then spilled art supplies and toys all across the floor so villains could never make their way through without being caught.
And like, yay for screen-free imaginative play! We love the wholesome creativity. But also, YIKES! We were breaking out in hives just looking at the chaos.
Since then, Teigen — who also shares Miles, 5 and babies Esti and Wren with husband John Legend — has been slowly cleaning the place up. But yesterday, she finally gave in and set out to finish the job. She documented the process on her Instagram story and it was a lot. You know how there are seven stages of grief? Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance? Well, Teigen showed followers the seven stages of cleaning a playroom.
Stage 1: Rallying The Kids
At the start, all bright-eyed bushy-tailed parents decide to enlist the help of their kids. But they soon discover that the kiddos are far from helpful.
Teigen had her “helper” Esti with her, but the 9-month-old was just sucking on a popsicle stick. And then she didn’t even put it in the container correctly. The audacity!
Stage 2: Getting Distracted
Teigen then (understandably!) lost her focus, taking a moment to shout out Lakeshore Learning. She said she loves their craft goods and these paper people.
“So many different shades,” she said while fanning them out.
Similar options are available on Amazon.
Stage 3: Feeling The Overwhelm
We then see Teigen trying to sweep up all the little sparkles and bits of paper on the floor with a rag. “Oh my god,” she said, audibly out of breath and over it.
Stage 4: Giving The Pep Talk
In that same clip, Teigen half-heartedly gave herself the same pep talk parents give themselves daily: “I’m doing the best I can.”
Stage 5: Calling In Reinforcements
At 1 a.m. (!!!) Teigen panned across the room, showing that things were “looking nice.” She then showed that Legend had joined her. Seemingly more for moral support than actual physical help, since he was sitting on a chair holding his phone.
“Hello friends,” he said.
Stage 6: Getting Distracted Again
Teigen had to take a moment to show off the very cool Lakeshore Learning Trace & Draw Projector (similar ones available on Amazon). And we’re glad she did! The little projector comes with six slides with a total of over 80 images that can be projected onto a piece of paper. Then kids can simply trace over the chosen design.
“Luna loves drawing freestyle, she’s amazing, she loves it,” Teigen said. “Miles, not so much.”
The Cravings author said her secondborn isn’t into crafts, but maybe this will encourage him to “at least practice using his little fingers.”
Stage 7: Centering Yourself
At 2:41 a.m., the mom of four recorded herself taking deep breaths to maintain whatever sanity she had left and prepare herself for the final stretch.
Finally, at 3:44 a.m. (!!!), she shared a video of all the supplies lined up neatly, with nary a popsicle stick out of place.
Way.
To.
Go.
Teigen.
