Megan Fox is not here to raise more misogynistic men. She shared her goal of raising her three sons to have “very deep emotional intimacy” with their future partners in a raw new interview, and as a fellow mom of three boys, it’s such a beautiful take.
“I think because I have sons, it’s very important to me to raise boys who are not like these men that I’ve been with,” the Expend4bles actress told WWDabout her sons Noah, 11, Bodhi, 9, and Journey, 7, who she shares with ex-husband Brian Austin Green. “It’s very important for me to raise boys who are able to have a very deep emotional intimacy with their partner.”
Yes, ma’am! As women, we know exactly the kind of men we don’t want our sons to grow up to be like, because we’ve dated them. Fox is trying to break the cycle by raising a new generation of boys who aren’t afraid to dive deep into emotions, and that is admirable.
Other Things She Wants to Teach Her Sons
There are many other things she hopes to instill in her sons as they grow up. “It’s very important to me that they are not liars, that they are able to be fully transparent and honest and respectful,” Fox continued. “And experience at some point in their life, I don’t expect them when they’re 16 to have a sacred love, but I do expect them at some point to get to that place, because I am their first introduction into women and the way that I love them is going to influence the way they are allowed to love others when they go out into a relationship.”
“And so I hope that just through my transparency in the way that I engage with them, in the way that I am demonstrative and affectionate with them, that allows them to love in a really healthy way,” she added.
We are our kids’ first love, so it’s nice to see that Fox is modeling what a healthy relationship should look like by loving her boys respectfully and honestly.
She Defended Her Sons
Fox is also fiercely protective of her sons. In June, she slammed claims that she “forced” her sons to wear dresses.
“But let me teach you something …” she wrote in part. “Irregardless of how desperate you may become at any given time to acquire wealth, power, success, or fame — never use children as leverage or social currency. Especially under malevolent and erroneous pretense.”
“Exploiting my children’s gender identity to gain attention in your political campaign has put you on the wrong side of the universe,” she continued. “I have been burned at the stake by insecure, narcissistic, impotent, little men like you many times, and yet I’m still here. You f*cked with the wrong b*tch.” Yes, queen! We love how strongly she stood up for herself and her boys.
Writing Has Been Therapuetic
Fox had been reflecting on her past relationships while writing a book of poems, Pretty Boys Are Poisonous, which released this month. “These poems were written in an attempt to excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence. I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins,” she said on the back cover. “My freedom lives in these pages, and I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what’s been buried, but not forgotten, in the darkness.”
In her book, the Transformers star wrote about her miscarriage with boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly. “That experience was so much harder than I would’ve anticipated it being, and I’ve really analyzed ‘why was that? Why was that so difficult for me?’” she said, adding that she’s had an “ectopic pregnancy” in the past and other “similar issues.”
“But not with someone who I was so in love with,” Fox continued. “And so that love element really made this miscarriage really tragic for me and left me with a lot of grief and a lot of suffering. So I put it into a lot of writing.” That’s one more thing her boys will see when they grow up that can help them understand compassion and love.
