Mariah Carey finished her last Christmas show of the season on Sunday night, and now the Queen of Christmas gets to relax before the big day on Dec. 25. During her downtime, she’s reflecting on a cool experience she and her twins had last week: getting to visit President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House!
Meeting The President
“Last week I had the pleasure of meeting President Biden & Vice President Harris at the White House to ring in the holiday season!” The “All I Want For Christmas Is You” singer wrote on Instagram Wednesday.
“While there, we got to see all the festive decor and spread some cheer! 🎄❄️☃️” she added.
How awesome for Carey’s 12-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe! She also shared several photos from the presidential visit, including one with President Biden smiling at Moroccan, while Monroe holds her mom’s hand on the other side. Moroccan is dressed in a smart blue blazer over khaki pants, while Monroe wears a black leather jacket over a black-and-white houndstooth skirt with tights. Carey is wearing a sparkly black skirt-and-jacket set with pink trim and Barbie-pink high heels.
The Grammy winner poses with President Biden in another shot, and with Vice President Harris and her husband Douglas Emhoff in another. In another picture, Carey chats with Vice President Harris while her kids respectfully sit in surrounding chairs. These two are so grown up.
Holiday Decor
Now for the fun part — getting to see the holiday décor! The White House’s Christmas theme this year is “Magic, Wonder, and Joy” of the Holidays, and features a fabulous tree filled with decorations that look like Santa’s village. There’s a train track through houses and trees on the base of the huge tree, and little village house ornaments strung through the branches. It’s spectacularly festive, and you can tell the trio is in awe.
In a letter written by First Lady Jill Biden and President Biden, the White House 2023 holiday theme was explained. “The 2023 White House holiday theme is inspired by how children experience this festive season: completely present in the beauty and bounty around them, their senses alight, with hearts open to the “Magic, Wonder, and Joy” of the holidays,” they wrote in part. “In this season of reflection and goodwill, we hope you will embrace your inner child and delight in simply being present with those you love.”
What a perfect theme for Carey to enjoy with her kids!
Meeting Other Celebrities
This isn’t the first time Carey’s met a U.S. president. In 2017, she performed at the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, where she and Monroe got to meet President Obama.
Of course, the twins have also gotten to travel with their mom performing on stage with her and meeting other celebrities, like the Kardashians, this year, so it’s been a very exciting time indeed!
