Halle Bailey just shared the first photos of her baby bump from her pregnancy with baby Halo, born last month, and the whole maternity photo shoot is The Little Mermaid-coded! The actress, who played Ariel in Disney’s live-action adaption of The Little Mermaid last summer, posted a behind-the-scenes video of her ethereal pictures — and she is glowing.
“🧜🏽♀️missing my belly already 💜,” Bailey wrote on Instagram today. “but i obviously had to do underwater pics 😉.”
In the accompanying video, Bailey seems to float underwater, as she gracefully moves her arms, cradles her belly, and turns her head for the picture. At one point, she wears a two-piece blue metallic skirt with matching top that reveals her bare bump. In another, she wears a long tulle gown that seems to drape over her whole body, floating serenely in the water as she dances “Under the Sea.” (King Triton would be so proud!)
The Comments
Fellow mermaid fans are just as obsessed with this video as we are. SaWeetie commented, “💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖.”
Jodie Benson, who voiced the original Ariel in Disney’s 1989 animated feature, commented, “Absolutely beautiful sweetie🩵.”
“A mermaid forever and ever 🙌,” someone else wrote.
“Underwater perfection!! 😍😍😍” another commented.
Mom of 1
After months of pregnancy speculation and baby bump rumors, Bailey confirmed she was pregnant when she announced the birth of her baby Halo with boyfriend DDG (born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.).
“even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son..” The Color Purple star wrote on Instagram. She also revealed his angelic name, “welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨ the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥️.”
Baby Number 2?
Earlier this month, fans asked DDG if he and Bailey were planning on having another baby (because of course they are!). The YouTuber and rapper replied on Snapchat, per Page Six, “No, I believe you gotta wait six weeks for that. That’s what I was told.”
He added that it’s “too early” for another baby. “I don’t want to split attention too quick. Like, I wanna at least just wait a little bit — let him get the full-blown attention right now,” he continued. (Since the baby is only a few weeks old, we completely agree!). He added, “Our whole world is him right now, so I don’t wanna take that away from him … I want him to experience that for a few years.”
If they do decide to have another baby, it’ll be up to them to tell the world in their time! For now, though, we will just continue to obsess over Bailey’s adorable bump and perfect underwater photo shoot!
