Kieran Culkin is racking up awards — he accepted a Primetime Emmy Award on Monday night and a Golden Globe Award earlier this month for the hit show “Succession” — and he has a very unusual place to store them. Instead of placing them on a shelf in his home office or locking them in a trophy case, Culkin pulled a total dad move to hold his prestigious award statues.
“My kids have these two little stuffies of Bert and Ernie,” Culkin told Varietyon the Emmys red carpet on Monday. “And so the Globe’s currently in between Bert and Ernie.”
Talk about relatable! His kids Kinsey Sioux, 4, and Wilder Wolf, 2, who he shares with wife Jazz Charton, were probably excited to see his shiny gold statue and wanted to display it on a shelf in their room. So it’s hanging out with Sesame Street characters, and that’s honestly so iconic.
Emmy Award
He also shared that his next award can’t go next to Big Bird because he purposely didn’t get that stuffed animal for his kids. “The problem with the Big Bird stuffie is its same size as all the others — Grover, Elmo, you got all of them, they’re all the same size — and I wanted to get a Big Bird, but it’s this big,” he continued, showing how small it is with his hands. “Shouldn’t it be…” he said, gesturing to a much bigger size. You would think that Big Bird would tower over the other stuffies, but apparently it doesn’t so Culkin just doesn’t feel right buying it for his kids. “Take a f—king note: make the Big Bird big,” he added with a smile.
Oh well, maybe his Emmy can go next to another stuffie (may I suggest Bluey?).
Kieran Culkin Announced He Wants Another Baby
During his acceptance speech at the 75th annual Emmy Awards on Monday, Culkin very publicly asked his wife if they could have another baby. He thanked his “beautiful wife for sharing your life with me and for giving me two amazing kids,” per PEOPLE, adding, “And Jazz, I want more. You said maybe, if I win!”
Afterward, Culkin explained to reporters why he made this public announcement. “I’ve been asking for a while,” Culkin said, per PEOPLE. “Jazz said, ‘Maybe if you win the Emmy.’ I didn’t bring it up for months, and then when I won the Globe, I said, ‘Do you remember what you said?’ And she was like, ‘What? No. What did I say? I don’t remember this.’ So I told her, and then it all came back to her. So then she spent the whole week being nervous.”
Although, he did feel bad about his public announcement afterward. “Instead of just talking to her in private like a human, I just blasted her on stage, which was very rude,” he continued. “And that’s it. That’s the whole story. Anyway, the end.”
Teaching His Daughter Curse Words
This isn’t the first time Culkin has said something he didn’t mean to. In a 2022 appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the actor admitted that he accidentally dropped the f-bomb in front of his daughter, who was 3 at the time.
“I hear my daughter go, ‘Daddy, what f*ck is?’” he said. “I felt like I had two or three options there,” he continued. “[Number one], do what I just did, ignore it, and then give her a f*cking peach, which is what I did. Then there was [number two], my instinct, which was to just laugh my a— off, but then that encourages it. Then there’s [number three], the ‘good parenting’ thing, which would be to take a knee and explain to her that that is a bad word that Daddy said and that you shouldn’t do it.”
He didn’t want to do the third option because then Kinsey would have kept that word “in the chamber at all times” and think, “I can drop a f*ck at any point and ruin your day.” And if she’s anything like her dad, she would definitely do that!
