Trading the January cold for sunshine and sand sounds relaxing — until the mom-shamers come for you! Behati Prinsloo shared a new photo of her and her baby boy, who turns 1 this month, and it was like a beacon for rude comments from people who’ve probably never had a day of fun in their lives.
The Victoria’s Secret Angel, who shares her son and daughters Dusty Rose, 7, and Gio Grace, 5, with husband Adam Levine, posted a picture of herself on the beach with her baby boy hanging out on her hip. “🦋 2024 🦋,” she captioned the sweet photo.
Controversial Photo
The little guy (whose name has not been revealed) is naked and covered in sand — the cutest little beach bum. In the photo, he’s looking down at his sandy hands, as his mom looks at the camera. She is the image of cool, with a tight white tank top, cut-off jean shorts, and black sunglasses. In her other hand she holds a glass beer bottle, which was apparently too scandalous for people in the year 2024.
“You look real motherly holding liquor in one hand and a baby in the other real mature,” one person wrote. OK? First of all, its beer, and second all, she’s not putting her baby in danger in anyway or even acting drunk. She’s literally just having a beer on the beach, so people can just chill.
“She’s a good mother don’t doubt that but this looks bad on her sorry,” another person commented. Someone else had problems with the baby’s lack of swimsuit. “Great picture but why posting your totally naked baby? Too many sick people on the Internet …” someone said.
Double Standard
Others called out the misogyny of commenters. “I’d like to know if this was the dad, Adam, holding a naked baby with a beer if the comments would be same…..🤔🧐🤨,” one person wrote. For the record, the Maroon 5 frontman shared the exact same picture of his wife, and most of the comments were positive.
“Perfection,” one person said. Someone else wrote, “One cool momma.”
Still another said, “Such a f–king vibe!!! 🔥🔥🔥”
The double standard is so obvious, it would almost be funny if it wasn’t so damn annoying.
At the end of the day, comments like these are probably why Prinsloo and Levine are so private about their kids. “No wonder she rarely shares anything. All of you rude people please stop. Being unkind and judgemental sucks,” one person wrote. We couldn’t agree more.
Loving Parents
Prinsloo shared her birth story in a November interview on The Mother Daze podcast, where she opted out of an epidural. “I was like, ‘I feel really good, I think I’m just going to go with this feeling right now,’” she explained.
“I felt so connected with him,” Prinsloo added. “I was just so amazed by women in general. I was like, ‘Wow, like I freaking did this…’” Moms are amazing!
The Voice alum is also thankful for his life as a parent. “I don’t know how you can have a better life. I’m lucky enough to do what I love professionally, but also have the greatest personal life and family I could ever ask for,” he told PEOPLE last month. “And having kids and a wonderful wife, and just that life that I cling so much to. I love it so much.”
