Every culture has different birthday traditions, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas’s daughter Malti Marie got to celebrate in both an American way and an Indian way. The Citadel star shared several photos of her new 2-year-old, and it shows the cool way she is honoring her heritage.
“She is our miracle. And she is 2. ❤️🙏🏽” Chopra Jonas captioned a new post on Instagram Wednesday. In the first photo, Malti looks adorable in heart-patterned pajamas, a wreath of flowers around her neck, and a Bindi jewel on her forehead. It was taken at the Malibu Hindu Temple in Southern California, which they visited as part of her birthday tradition. According to Culture Trip, it’s a Hindu tradition to take a visit to the temple on your birthday to offer prayers and receive blessings for good fortune in the upcoming year.

Another photo shows Chopra Jonas and her mom in traditional Hindu headdresses. The “Waffle House” singer stands in between the two women, holding Malti who looks transfixed by the ceremony. It’s absolutely adorable!

Learning About Her Cultures
Malti’s parents are focused on teaching their daughter about her Indian and American heritage. Chopra Jonas and Jonas took Malti to India in April 2023, writing about the experience, “MM’s first trip to India had to be completed with Shree Siddhivinayak’s blessings 🙏🏽❤️ #HanumanJayanti #GanpatiBappaMorya.” They went to the Siddhivinayek Temple in Mumbai to celebrate the Hanuman Jayanti festival.
In a June 2022 interview with PEOPLE, the Jonas Brothers singer shared, “It’s really important to us that our daughter has an upbringing that is representative of our family and the things we love about [my wife’s] Indian culture and my American culture.”
Elmo Birthday Party
For her second birthday, Malti also had an American celebration — an Elmo party complete with a red Elmo cake, an actual Elmo puppet, and red streamers and decorations everywhere.
The “Jealous” singer shared several photos of his little girl’s party on Instagram, captioning it, “Our little angel is 2 years old ❤️.”
