While many fans remember when Katherine Schwarzenegger was born back in 1989 to parents Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, she’s a parent herself now! Katherine is a proud mom of two (soon to be a proud mom of three), and throughout it all, she’s been vulnerable, honest, and full of joy every step of the way; one of the many reasons why we love her.
For those who don’t know, Schwarzenegger and her husband, Chris Pratt, share two daughters together: Lyla Maria, born in Aug 2020, and Eloise Christina, born in May 2022. In the summer of 2024, they confirmed they’re expecting another baby soon, with both their reps confirming it and a sweet pic of Katherine’s baby bump. (And don’t you forget that she’s the proud stepmom of Pratt and his first wife, Anna Faris’ son named Jack, born on Aug 2012.)
Since welcoming her first child, Katherine has been the sweetest mama and has done many things, from making a parenting podcast to penning a children’s book to sharing adorable posts for her kiddos.

Staying True to Her Parenting Style
In a previous interview with SheKnows, Schwarzenegger talked about how she stays grounded and how she ensures her parenting style stays true to her.
“I think really staying true to how you want to raise your children, how you want to raise your family, what you want to do as a parent is so important and to not get caught up in people’s silly criticism of your choices,” she said.
Setting Boundaries
Katherine Schwarzenegger also talked about setting boundaries as a mom.
“We always find ourselves talking about that subject, how to be a grandparent, how do you respect boundaries, when do you overstep boundaries, how do you deal with in-laws balancing all of the parts of grandmotherhood,” she said to People. “We came up with this idea to together have this conversation about grandmotherhood and to be able to do it with other grandparents and other new parents. And it turned out to be such a beautiful, kind of first special edition version of BDA Baby.”
Always Wanted to be a Mom
Katherine Schwarzenegger said to PEOPLE Every Day host Janine Rubenstein about how “blessed” she is to be a mom. She said, “I’ve always wanted to be a mom and I have always really looked forward to this time in my life and been really excited about it,. And I feel really just so blessed to be able to experience it and also experience it with my husband, and she’s just the best.”
Sleeping as a Mom
On March 8, 2022, for International Women’s Day, Schwarzenegger hosted her first Amazon Live Livestream, where she talked about everything from motherhood tips to parenting styles. You can watch the whole stream HERE.
She said, “How much you can function and do in a day on very little sleep. Before having my daughter, I was always someone who needed to get at least eight hours of sleep and I always went to bed early, got up early. You don’t really get the solid eight hours after you have a baby, so I am always surprised at how much you can get done in a day and also feel relatively normal and functional as a woman on such little amount of sleep.”
The Adorable Way She & Chris Pratt Confirmed Baby No. 3
On July 27, 2024, Chris Pratt shared the sweetest image of his pregnant wife, and their two daughters. He shared the photos to his Instagram with the caption reading, “Greatest party planner in history,” and confirmed she’s expecting with a sweet pic from the party!
Mother’s Day Chaos
Her daughters even plan Mother’s Day for her, and she loves every minute of it.
“She told me that she’s going to wake me up on Mother’s Day by making me brownies in bed and waffles with her dad,” Schwarzenegger laughed to People. “So we’ll see how that goes over with both of the girls doing that alone with Chris. It’ll be fun chaos [and] will be a disaster afterward, so I’ll just enjoy that moment and see how that goes over, it’ll be great.”
Multitasking Around the Holidays
In a 2020 interview with SheKnows, Schwarzenegger talked about multitasking around the holidays. “But being a mom, you need to learn how to multitask, and I’m definitely learning that. Being the oldest in my family, I’ve learned to multitask pretty well as I’ve gotten older” she said “… But definitely when you have a newborn, you learn it on a whole different level. But it’s such a joy and so much fun. It’s a really exciting time, to be able to have the first holiday season be happening right now for her.”
Inspiring her Daughters’ Styles
Schwarzenegger talked about how she wanted to inspire her daughters’ style, saying to People, “To be able to now have my girls wear those clothes and to have them still be in style and of the moment, it’s such a cool thing to be able to [see]. I send my daughter to preschool in the outfits that I used to wear to preschool.”
Relying on Others
Schwarzenegger isn’t afraid to rely on those she loves during her motherhood journey, telling People: “I would’ve dramatically suffered, had I not brought my mom and my sister with me.”
Putting Her Daughters’ Names on Everything
Per People, she once quipped that she puts her daughters’ names on everything she can, especially with her jewelry.
Seeing Her Mom Become a Grandmother
“My mom and I are always really close and talk several times a day about everything,” Katherine Schwarzenegger said to PEOPLE about her mom Maria Shriver. “And it’s been such a beautiful experience to be able to step into my journey with motherhood and also watch my mom step into her journey in grandmotherhood.”
BDA Baby
For those who don’t know, Schwarzenegger has a podcast called BDA Baby™ (Before, During & After Baby), which is an interview-based series where she has important discussions with people on pregnancy, sex, relationships, birth, fertility challenges, and more. She’s had guests on like Al Roker, Lea Michele, Keltie Knight, Shawn Johnson, and more.
‘Good Night, Sister’
While Schwarzenegger has released a few books, in 2023, she released the children’s book Good Night, Sister about the bonds of sisterhood, and it was inspired by her daughters.
