Whether it’s for the holidays, a birthday, or another special occasion, gift-buying for moms can be a real challenge. Flowers can go a long way as a universally beloved (if short-lived) present, but sometimes you want to give something more practical. That’s especially true of the mom you’re giving to has just welcomed her second (or third or fourth or — gulp — fifth or more?!) child.
We’re not suggesting you treat this holiday like another baby shower. And besides, this mom probably already has all the newborn necessities, she probably already has all the newborn necessities, like a crib and a high chair and whatnot, plus a million other things she never really needed in the first place. She’ll most likely have boxes of baby clothes at the ready for the new arrival. And with yet another child in the house taking up all the space with its tiny body, she won’t thank you for duplicate items — or really anything that’s not pulling its weight in terms of making her life easier.
That said, you don’t have to go for an uber-practical gift if that’s not your thing. Pretty and purposeful has its place, too — especially when you think outside the box and get Mom something special (and not-too-space-consuming) that reflects her growing family. Ahead, we’ve rounded up ideas to gift moms of many. These items are helpful, luxurious, or ideally both, and will inspire you when shopping for the mom who has everything — and is parenting seemingly everyone.

For Your Aspiring Gourmand
For moms with babies who are about to make the change to solid food, send them a gift card to Yumi, which delivers freshly made baby food made specifically for your child’s age, right to your door. You can also add on this adorable kit for $45 when purchasing a gift card for these nutritionist-backed meals. It comes with a guide to starting solid foods for parents, a one-on-one Q&A session with a registered nutritionist, two colorful bibs for messy babies and a custom Muslin Wipe cloth.
A Game-Changing Meal Service
Moms of multiple children barely have time to feed themselves, let alone whip up something that’s both nutritious and delicious in the kitchen. If the mom in your life is running off of granola bars, treat her to a subscription to Territory Foods. She can customize her foods to her needs and wants, because Territory Foods has plenty of options for every lifestyle, including dairy-free meals and gluten-free meals. She’ll feel like she’s dining out at a world-class restaurant every time she pulls one of these meals out of her fridge.
Peace & Quiet
The ultimate gift for busy, tired moms? Some rest and relaxation. Gift her Hatch’s game-changing Rest device, which is a smart sound machine and night light that every nursery needs. It’ll soothe baby to sleep like magic with eleven relaxing sounds and a light library. You can even create custom sleep programs with one-touch settings for bedtime, nap time, and when it’s time to wake up. Best of all, you can control it from the app on your phone—it can’t get easier than that.
A Multipurpose Mat
She’s long past the era of being even remotely willing to tolerate an ugly multicolored plastic mat. Nooo chance; she went through that phase two whole kids ago! Show this mom that you know she’s an old hat at mixing functionality with form — with the FamoKids playmat, a chic addition to any room that still adds padding and easy cleanup for all those crawlers and sprawlers.
An Epic Toaster
Remember what we said about form plus functionality? A pretty kitchen piece that serves four is just the thing. Gift Mom this multi-slot toaster from BUYDEEM in beautiful seafoam green, to brighten her mornings without messing around with an oh-so-slow two-slot toaster. She’s got too many kids for that nonsense!
A Diaper Bundle
Mom might have a lot of baby equipment already, but what she’ll definitely need for any new arrival are diapers, diapers and more diapers. Give her the gift of no diaper stress ever by organizing a diaper bundle subscription from a company like The Honest Company.
A Snazzy Diaper Caddy
A storage caddy will help keep all those diapers and other changing essentials in one (mobile) place. Go one step further and fill the caddy for Mom — it’s the new-parent equivalent of a holiday gift basket.
A Beauty Box Subscription
The more kids you have, the harder it is to find the time to apply mascara, let alone stay on top of the latest beauty innovations. A beauty box subscription with samples that are delivered to her door every month is a treat that’s just for her. Hands off, kids.
Matching Sibling Outfits
You can’t go wrong with a cute matching outfit for the new baby and their older sibling(s) — and/or Mom, too.
A Birthstone Necklace
OK, so it’s not quite “useful,” but a necklace with her kids’ initials and birthstones on it is the perfect personalized touch — and takes up virtually no space in her house.
A Cozy Throw
When you’re a very new mom, chances are you spend a lot of time in bed/on the couch — whether that’s healing from vaginal or C-section birth or just plain holding/feeding/rocking your new sleepy baby seemingly nonstop. And if you’ve also got other tots to chase around the house? That can make your solo bed/couch time with the newborn feel extra-precious. Make it feel luxurious too with a knit throw that’s fancy and cozy all at once.
A Better Baby Monitor
When parents need to keep an eye on more than one young child, a two-camera baby monitor is the answer. This one has a two-way talkback system, which (hopefully) lets parents comfort their baby or toddler with their voice, all without leaving the sofa.
A Chic & Easy-to-Keep Baby Journal
When you’ve got a lot of kids, it’s easy to let their stories all blend together (which one had the 36-hour labor? Was it the same kid that ended up getting born on the kitchen floor? No, that can’t be right…). Help Mom remember this newbie’s special memories — and differentiate from all those other special memories — with a beautifully bound baby journal from Write to Me.
The Coziest of Stain-Proof Sweatshirts
Who could have predicted that sweatshirts would one day be the height of fashion? Not only is this Life Proof pullover attractive, it’s also built to withstand all the messes that moms must deal with — either directly from their kids or, you know, spilled on themselves in the act of running to help their kids. It’s odor-proof, water-proof, and stain-proof without making you look like you’re wearing a plastic bag. Oh, and it’s handcrafted by artisans in Mexico
A Great Carrier
Mom might have all the newborn essentials she “needs,” but she might also have her eye on an upgrade to a classic item — like a new baby carrier to replace that worn-out 2013 thing. There’s nothing wrong with asking her what she wants and buying it for her. She’ll love you forever.
Hydration at the Ready
For moms who are breastfeeding, staying hydrated is key — but even if she’s not, chasing kids around all day is enough to make anyone parched. Make sure she’s getting her recommended daily intake with Stanley’s IceFlow 64oz Flip Straw Jug, which comes in three colors: Lagoon, Hammertone Green and Polar. The handle makes it super easy to tote around and can even be slid around your wrist — key for moms who oftentimes find themselves short of hands.
