Randi Zuckerberg on kids, tech and being a good working mom

Here’s betting the name Randi Zuckerberg seems familiar.

She’s the founder and CEO of Zuckerberg Media, editor-in-chief of Dot Complicated, a New York Times best-selling author, former director of marketing for Facebook, and a busy mom of two boys who has grabbed cyberbullies by the horns in an attempt to protect kids all over the world.

SheKnows caught up with Zuckerberg to talk raising — and protecting — kids in a digital world. Because gadgets are everywhere, including in kids’ hands. And even if your kids don’t have cellphones or tablets yet, if they’re in a school, they’re using a computer (in 2009, the most recent year from which data is available, the National Center for Education Statistics estimated some 97 percent of teachers had one or more computers located in the classroom every day, and Internet access was available for 93 percent of the computers located in the classroom every day).

The way Zuckerberg sees it, this is a good thing for kids and parents alike. Tech is the future, and that means the future for our kids. If you want to get your kids a jump on a career, let’s face it: Pushing their school to provide something beyond the three Rs could go a long, long way. What does the former Facebook spokeswoman want to see in schools?
