JoAnna Garcia Swisher Reveals One Thing She Does That Is ‘Brutally Embarrassing’ to Her Daughter

JoAnna Garcia Swisher is a talented actress, but that doesn’t necessarily affect the way her kids see her. The Sweet Magnolias star revealed in a new video interview with SheKnows that she embarrasses her daughters Emerson Jay, 11, and Sailor Stevie, 8, when she does this one thing — and it’s so relatable!

When asked how she embarrasses her kid, our Back-to-School issue cover star had an answer ready: “Dance,” she says with a laugh. Swisher, who she shares with husband Nick Swisher, explains, “Me dancing is brutally embarrassing for my younger [daughter]. I dance in public, I dance everywhere.”

You wouldn’t think someone whose graced our screens for decades what be an embarrassing dancer! On the other hand, parents are almost never cool in the eyes of their kids, so we get it. Plus, she can’t help it! The Reba alum shares that “music is a big deal in our house right now” because they are a “major T-Swift family.” “Huge Swifties. Swishers are Swifties,” she jokes. How can you not dance when “Shake It Off” is playing?!

Of course, the embarrassment runs both ways. In the interview with us, she revealed that her daughter once walked in on her and her husband “making out in the shower.” Oof! That would be awkward, for sure!

Parenting has been a learning curve for Swisher, joking that “we all are parenting experts until you become a parent.” She added that she once swore she would never “give my kid an iPad at dinner.” And now? “I give my kids iPads at dinner if necessary.” So true!

In the video interview, Swisher reveals her go-to hiding spot when she needs to get away from her kids, the snack she steals from her girls, and one big lie she told her daughter to get her to listen.
