Scout the Rescue Dog has a cuddle with his “fur mom” Sam. Not all shelter dogs face such happy futures, though. While it’s true that the number of dogs euthanized in shelters has decreased, there is still much progress to be made. An estimated 1.2 million dogs are euthanized each year.
