We have heard it a thousand times — chocolate can be deadly for dogs and ingesting even a small amount can wreak havoc on your poor pup, not to mention your wallet. Our friends at Trupanion tell us that chocolate ingestion alone can cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars before your pooch is fully healthy again. They also caution us that it’s best to know the symptoms of toxicity for individual foods, as the amount ingested before it becomes dangerous varies significantly based on the substance and the size of the dog. Additionally, it’s possible your dog’s age and other health concerns could play a role in how dangerous it is.
