According to The Belfast Telegraph, Shannon Locke from Bangor in County Down, Northern Ireland, was diagnosed with severe epilepsy after suffering a massive attack when she was 17 years old. At one stage, her attacks were so frequent that, according to the publication, Locke was having up to 20 seizures a day and had to drop out of university.
But luckily for Locke, her Labrador, Poppy, has become a “lifeline” and warns her when she’s about to have a seizure.
“I have seizures a couple of times a week and they can be very serious. They can be fatal,” Locke told Belfast Live.

Now, a video of one of Locke’s seizures and how Poppy reacts to them has been uploaded to YouTube. According to the caption, “Poppy gave her owner Shannon 15 mins warning of this seizure starting. Shannon then got herself to a safe place and set her camera.”
In the video, Locke can be seen suffering from a crippling seizure, but luckily Poppy is on-hand to “help prevent her choking” by licking the excess saliva. Poppy reportedly also helps her owner “come around quicker”.
